OC & Modding Removing plastic backplate of some gigabyte GPUs can drop temps significantly

So I read this reddit post and found that I have the same GPU design (cooler and backplate) of my 1660 Super:

So I did the same to my in-warranty Gigabyte 1660 Super Windforce OC model.
And it dropped the temps by 5 degrees and allowed higher memory clock speeds.

it is almost valid for all gpus with backplate untill and unless they are functional backplates ,the only role or function that this backplates would provide would be save the solder/shorts and any chip which is mounted at the backside mounted

At least they should start using backplate which allow more airflow unlike this Gigabyte one.
Are u not worried about losing warranty ?
I'm taking a chance here, there was no warranty void sticker. So I took the chance.
