So I am on a sticky wicket literally. I used one of the double sided sticky tapes last year. I am now having a really tough time removing the leftover gum. Its real sticky and cleaning alcohol did not work.
Anyone has any idea how to get rid of it as its gone dirty after collecting dust. Acetone ?

I was about to open a thread for the exact purpose.. leftover gums after removal of stickers on appliances or xyz surfaces is a pain! Even after proper removal of the gum stains and thorough cleaning, dust still gathers in brown making it look dirty.

If its this one then I hope I can get one at a local hardware shop. I hope they know whats wd-40 or is there a layman name for the same.

They'll know, the paint shops will have it. Even Itsy Bitsy has it here.

This will work too. Anything similar to wd40 will be fine. Petrol acetone etc will damage plastics while wd40 wont

There is a liquid that I had got from the US, funnily called 'Goo Gone', it's sole purpose is adhesive removal. Brilliant little product.

This did the trick !
Just sprayed it over a clean cloth and applied. Let it soak for 2 mins and voila. Thanks a lot !
Did you have it lying around? Trying to get around the fact that in 7 mins of him suggesting it, you used it to good effect.
