My 5 year old hard disc almost died some days ago. Thats why i bought a new one Segate Momentus 500 gb from flipkart which has sata3 port where as my laptop config says
old hd was sata1. I had inquired about it in net and found out that sata3 is backward compatible.

I am a noob. I havent done it before. Following youtube, now i successfully replaced the old one with new one. But this comes when i boot the laptop. Please someone can say what i am doing wrong. I have searched and found it is some jumper thing which i cannot guess what to do. There is no jumper thing sent by flipkart. pls guide me. :)

THANKS ALL. I have installed the OS and now all is fine :D

ANY TIPS what should I do with the dying old hard disc ? should I buy an enclosure and use that as external HDD till it die completely ?

Use it as a download HDD with a ASUS N13(similar to what I did) OR with movies to play on TV. However do check and partition off the bad sectors (which is what I did). Else, if you cannot find the cause for the slowdowns, dont use the HDD, it may not function when you need to use it.
