My Microtek Double battery UPS(800VA) has gone bust. Doesnt provide backup for more than 10 seconds. Now i need to replace 2 batteries of 7.2 AH/12Volts.

If i use a 7.5AH batteries will it provide me additional back up time?

Has anybody tried it or any electronic gurus in the forum?

Since the AH rating is only slightly higher, you can use them. But you can expect only slight increase in back up. Long back I had replaced the two 7.2 ones in my Powersafe 700VA with 7.5 and they lasted long.

Also make sure ur UPS can accommodate those 7.5Ah batteries which will be slightly bigger.... Otherwise you will have to keep them outside the UPS...

If the voltage is same then no issue if you use 7.5Ah instead of 7.2Ah

7.2AH*2=14.4AH

7.5AH*2=15AH

Seems You wont benefit much in backup only as .6AH is not much difference

it translate to one minute or a little more backup.

and it also depends how much is the load when power outage on you UPS

A machine with normal 17"crt monitor with a general Pentium IV system gives a backup of 15minutes aprox with double battery UPS.

If its an LCD 17" with same machine the backup time doubles assuming LCD @40Watts aprox

MY pc specs are
Intel e5300
Gigabyte g31 E2SL
4GB DDR2
1 TB HDD
320GB HDD
DVD writer
Corsair vx450
Viewsonic W1940 LCD

i think they all add up to 150watts max.

I just went around the neighbourhood hunting for 7.2/7.5 AH batteries, but none of them have it
They have only 7AH/12volts Exide batteries.Which is also fine as per the UPS manual(12V, 7.2AH/7AH x 2)

All shops had only Exide. But there are 2 models. Powersafe and Chloride. Both 7AH
Which 1 is better among the 2?

The Exide Powersafe battery is better than Exide Chloride(safe power)battery.
