The mods should. A tech site of this level should not need any gimmicks to pull in people. You just cannot leave it at "Check the guidelines and rules". Everyone knows one sees the rules only after seeing the dirt. The rules should be PMed automatically to the person who has attained clearance. Why not close the loopholes if you can ?
 
In addition to Phoenix recommendations I would also like to add that only half of the payment should be made before the product reaching to the buyer.
 
Best thing to do will be starting a Escrow A/c where people can pay the money and TE ppl can pay the seller once the Buyer gets the Products 200% foolproof then there will be no mishaps like this whatsoever.

But then again donno if anything like this will be possible...coz this is'nt EBay but seriously this will be like an end to all such problems.

but then, the mods should not be held responsible for a bad sale. they are just providing a platform, right ?
 
Yes. TE should not be involved in any monetary matters (except dealer payment, of course :( )

But what the Mods can do is hide the Market section all together , and no entry to anyone who doesnt fulfill the required criteria. I see many people posting in my threads "great pricing blah blah" for posts. Dunno if the posts count , but still , this will stop the bogus members . Also rules and regulations to be automatically PMed to the users once the criteria are cleared.
 
Yep . I know. But now with the increasing number of events , i think its time the MODS took some action and not leave it at "the current criteria are enough".

Something like paisa pay but that would be difficult at TE

Regarding what PhOeNiX said about the minimum number of posts, this would be ineffective as a non genuine buyer can spam in other section to fulfill the minimum post requirement.
 
I know , the person can definitely scam. But if the psot count is considerably high around 100+ posts , and the minimum duration is at least 30 days to 3 months for the Market section to open up for new members, it will filter out MOST , if not all of the scammers.

A system of payment where TE Mods and Admins are involved is not recommended. What happens if there is a problem ? Who decides whether the deal is proper or not ? Who gives them the authority to judge whether the deal is bust or ok ? It puts too much responsibility on their shoulders ,which i guess they would not like to take up.
 
Can anything be implemented like this?

1. New sellers are allowed to trade within their city limits with COD as an option until their reputation increases

2. Compulsory sharing of phone numbers before transactions
 
Hi folks, i got a PM from a new user @badsteve requesting for demonoid invite, i know its not a big deal to get the invite elsewhere ,wehn i saw his pot count it was zero ,more over i did not have any invites left :ashamed: , and i told him that it seems that u got registered at TE just for a invite and i cant pass it to u ,look what i got as a reply

aaaahhhh so it seems cant think of any other reason y i would it aint like im gonna start wearing a turbine or worshiping hamburgers so u can take ur site and ur invite and shove them up ur guru ass i wont be back

i felt that people are getting registered for just invites and do fake sales in market :@ ,is it possible to lock all our sub forums and impost some restrictions to guests so that we can stop spammers,i am posting this here in coz there was reporting another tusharrastogi,sorry if was posted in a wrong place , i mean this is irritating seeing so many fake ids in our forum :@
 
What if we use things like post dated cheques (slow but safe), atleast for high value orders.

In that case both the buyer and seller are assured.

If you dont get the item in good condition by the cheque date you can block it.

If on getting the item the buyer blocks the cheque you can sue him...

Dont know the intricacies but it should work.

Just my 2 cents
 
he also asked me if i want , i said ok but u have to ship first , then he said he cant ship first .. i said then i dont want .. later he replied that som1 else is interested for 2.5k if he backs out he will send me .

u should not trust new members , if som1 is new u should take phone no and ask him to ship first . if he doesnt agree then ask him to give to some reputed member to that city and ship if he agrees , otherwise u should not deal .
 
how about starting a thread to report bank accounts n contact info of such e-criminals?

would be easy to refer to the list before trading with non-familiar members..
 
Yeah the 100 posts thing + 30 day waiting period is a decent way to remove all most all but the most hardcore of spammers.

I have thankfully dealt with only nice people till now, but I should have taken some precautions like checking the kind of posts the seller has made (to see if he has just been spaming or not) or seeing if he has done any deals before.

I personally wouldn't buy any high value item from someone without any feedback.
 
100+ is good for sellers.

40+ for Access/buyers to Market sounds nice.

Or its going to be hard for both Sellers, Buyers. Like No buyers, no sale. Etc.

As i have already got stuff from Market, from Pheonix. But have 98 Posts as of this posting.
 
People like these are blot on genuine people like us who wants to trade or sell things on internet. I suggest you get his address from his IP. Then ask the police to trace down his address. I wish you good luck., Let me know if you need any legal help, will help you. Good Luck..
