i really dont think zhops used to do that for the reps. If folks want to post something in general talk, let them, but i dont think we need to be giving out incentives to people to post there

OBviously he never used to post for the reps. But if people need an incentive to post, it is just sad.

When you request for a modification or new feature, the onus really is on the admins to responds.

Any process change requests will be responded to by the mods.

Though I agree, the rep points have lost their significance. Even with the suggested changes who will control which posts will get repped under which category. People do get repped in technical threads for non-technical posts.

If it can be made possible that as and when a person clicks on the rep button, the menu shows the category for which the reps are to be awarded.

I agree this is not going to be an easy task and i have never seen any such implementation anywhere else either.

All i was concerned was that this site is more or less like one stop thingie for ppl like me and the reps been mis-distributed like cheap made in china products by ppl.

ppl wd rep even wen a thanks wd have been enuf.

plus, u wdnt know what sorta profile the person posting in the thread has got.

i believe if implemented, it ll boost a lot of competition amongst all the members and that wd be a killer move.

Lets see how seriously the admin takes this up this time round.

I think the reps/post count etc are just indicators, and as such they do fine. And since there are Toscars for some real effort put in, I think things are pretty ok down here :D

I think KISS (keeping It Simple) is the way to go...

Just put in the colour coded blocks and leave it with that, no need to give users control of the category. Let the system decide that automatically based on the forum where the post is located.
