Is there any limit a member can gain reputation through one post?

say, suppose i post some tutorial or review, how many ppl can rep me at the most? unlimited? If its unlimited then it will be better to limit it to certain no.say 3.
 
huh? whatever happnd to democracy, of course the current system is better since the one guy cant rep the same person for the same post..
 
i m not talking of one person repping the same person for the same post :P
i m saying all members will try to rep the person for a single post,if the post is good..u can limit that no.of members
 
As far as I know any member can rep any other member just once for any single post. So lets say we have 550 members here that would mean you could only get 550 rep's (if every one gave a rep) for a single post. Why would you want to say to someone "Hey you can't rep that post because someone already did."?
 
as u ppl wish, i dont mind my rep being up in a shot ! :D

but i dint like the idea of 550 ppl repping one person just for a single post! and ranking him/her as the most top reputable person...

its just my suggestion. u can either accept it or reject it.. m not forcing,, :)

If one such post is good enough, maybe hes the most reputable person, why deny?
 
I shared the same concern as blue here but then i think its fine. You cant say that only 10 people are allowed to think you are good. :bleh:
 
^^Definitely! besides i think various members have various rep points to offer.. highly repped members can give away many more rep points.. so if 3 new guys rep a post then the person with a good review loses out.. which is totally not fair..

BTW, this suggests that the "Power" thingy has not been eliminated. :huh:
 
Interesting topic there. My vote goes to democracy & just to clarify the point Headshot one cannot break or make anybody here. If everybody thinks that X person posts bad then only he'll be banned or reps. go into red. For e.g. techboy. Look at u'rself, u joined in Mar & just beyond a yr. u're just great :)
 
^^ Yeah, but only now we have a certain individual rep limit.

E.g. - If you rep a person once, you need to rep 5 other people before you can rep him again ;)
 
That's not the point. The point that was raised is if one can recieve n no. of rep. points from different people for the same post & people having opinions about that. I'm all for somebody posting a top notch post & getting some major rep. points but then I would also like that post to feature in the newsletter that comes out something like 'Post of the Month' or something similar. Of course people may have ideas that this post was o.kish or was just great but that's upto them. This would be really interesting. Don't know if it's currently being done or not.

Some more interesting things I picked up from this thread

. Especially this post where somebody named Udit had repped 9 people in 24 hrs. just so that he could rep Dipdude or somebody else then Enigmatrix tried that & Blade_Runner lamenting why people want to circumvent rules all the time.

To tell it, it's pretty straight Mr. Blade, U see somewhere in the Indian consciousness there's something called cheating. If it's not used then one becomes quite insecure as he's the only one. But seriously guys, the guys had me in splits. I wish the thread was not closed. I would 've lked to contribute some serious mayhem out there. Ah well ! There's always nother day :)
 
i dont really see what is being discussed here... dont post just for the heck of it. your post above dosent make any sense at all....

I'd say u were very popular missy so why worry :bleh:
And the rep thing sucks, where someone has to rep 10 other people before he can rep again... I know the demerits of doing away with the rule as well.... but say I post 3 quick reviews, 90% of the people won't be able to rep me...;)
