Personally I was looking forward to scoring much higher portal awards than Shripad back in the days when I and DS used to do our thing, but it seems that the forum guys are busy babysitting market section.

Don't get me wrong but this is more of a suggestion. Just how many new contributors do we have now? And now much did we have before? Where was the motivation as we had before? People joined because people contributed- not because of deals.

Techenclave is one of...correction.... the best Indian tech forum out there and if any member becomes a well-known member, he's obviously there on the forum. Like it or not, credible writers who are loyal to their own forum eventually end up posting here on the forums. We even had GOOC over here. TE became the best because the contributions and advice were one of the best and transparent. If these points doesn't say that its the contributors who built TE in the first place, I don't know what will.

I end up sacrificing 3 nights of sleep, and times 2 in a row for the review alone. I am sure others do the same. Infact others have done way more because they ended up spending money for it- cameras, lens, setup- and time. I am sure everyone of you are busy, but so are we but we still do it.

I spoke to Renegade about getting a service rep and he said he needs to work on certain "stuff" regarding it. Eddy put up via facebook very recently that he will check up on him. Appreciate the effort, but I just like to know "what's up"??? I only told him about one but I could speak to others and see what can be done. This is respect and attention I am putting up in this forum, so I'll appreciate if the same can be done from the forum guys. Incase not many know, I am going to Delhi to meet the Corsair India guys- not just because its "taken care of"- but I am doing for the forums. Or else I wouldn't have gone, rather would have told to pass on a PR and be done with it.

In the end, is it really too much to ask to rename "work in progress" to something else and see if its possible to bring back whatever we had before. Probably the last attempt to see if techenclave can get its act together.

Oh yeah, BTW- we have way too many trolls provoking people and putting their fingers in someone else's ear for no reason (not naming any, but its one of those "+1 I agree lawl but I can't afford it" types). I've seen few members leaving the forum because they were being trolled. Might want to check up on that as well.

TBH the 'Portal Award' system was more of a way to manually 'publish' reviews onto the portal.

Now the process is automated and everything gets to the portal instantly. Its better, since content is fresh rather than waiting for one of the mods to approve it, write a short intro, resize pic, reorder, etc etc.

Nobody denies the contribution, I'm just surprised that contributors are looking for awards. Mods should get ones daily in that aspect  Anyway, I guess the Admins can whip up something to still handout awards. Problem is lot of stuff is still pending from the vB4 upgrade.

Market threads that are out of spec are just deleted instead of bothering with a response. It also helps that people are prompt at reporting market threads.

With Tech threads, we try to make sure they're in right sections, delete OT posts, rename thread titles, etc.. oh and yes we post there too from time to time.

Now tell me which section gets the baby-sitting :P

I forgot to ask Renegade about the Service Rep thing. Will check.

As for trolling, I think people are a bit too sensitive. You just need to ignore what you don't like.

Same as with General Talk ^^. Its not like you need to pass through Gen Talk before you can read tech posts, so not sure what the fuss is. I'm not forced to read it, why should you be? Theres tons to read and do in the tech sections.

P.s: IMO Market and General Talk are excuses for issues you guys may have with the Tech sections. So if you or others posting after this are tempted to bring up that unproductive line of thought - Please DON'T!

Yeah but you guys used to "choose" manually. Oh you will be suprised how many blokes see that. Not that I am saying its important, but its just for the fun of it. Automatic sucks h00ts!!

Yeah but if you see that automatic thing ends up showing BB codes like and [QUOTE]. When you guys did it manually, you guys written it something in your words

Not as if you will forward a cake or something to the contributors :P. Like I said, for the fun of it ;).

I am not talking about Udit only. I already told Udit that there are idiots in the forums who will just provoke him using anything.

Nothing to add further. Talking about market section is irrelevant so we'll leave it at that.

Sorcy TE is dead don't try resurrecting it .We have tired but the admins are deaf nothing much can be done .Let it die this way .I have stopped posting here and follow the email route to help or get info .

I think a few things need to be done:-

1) Revive the Reviews/ Guides/ tutorials section. Award points, MOM etc tags.

2) Revive tech sections by again rewards by way of points and recognition.

3) Tone down the market a bit, remove a few sellers.

Lastly, we need the mods to play a bigger part. When a mod manually chooses a post, it shows the member that his work has been recognised.

Woah! Chill mate, Its just a transition phase..

No need to get the dooms day paranoia here.

Yeah I know there was lot of interest in the portal but doing it manually had these 'lazy' periods when we were too lazy to put anything up or refresh the portal and I know there were occasions when people did reviews and were a bit upset that their review wasn't featured etc which is why I was all for an automated system. Similarly when we did not have people available regular to review I guess other features like MOTM too fell in disuse. Anyway there are lot of things that need to be fixed and we need to bug the busy admeens for them :P

We have modders putting up work logs.

We have very handful of real overclockers who put up benchmarks scores and screenshots- not to mention LN2 guys.

We also have people who write guides and reviews.

You add them up and you see few but good amount of contributors and few of them are regularly contributing on a monthly basis.

By the looks of it, even GOOC 2010 isn't archived properly. Dude, that's THE OFFICIAL AND THE FIRST (online, yeah- but hey, we atleast have something) OC competition nationwide qualifier (okay, we had about about 8 guys submitting and one chickening out- most gunning for the second or third prize, but its still the first) we had in India with REALLY GOOD PRIZES that members actually received. The person who brought it in the first place did it for the good of the community. Hopefully that wouldn't be the last, but it can be archived properly.

There's more where that came from, but its just that TE needs to have radical implementations and modifications alongwith times. How many defunct forums we had till now- Kawabonka? Indian Pro League? Frag Shack?

TA guys are drunk (lol) whereas others are either having 2-3 one man army, dead silent or just playing politics within their own local neighbourhood group with bunch of fanboys who happen to go to other forums looking for n00bs and making them to join their forum (yeck). Its best to learn from other forum's mistakes because that's how TE stands away from the rest. IVG is there but that's a gaming forum. There's also an audiophile and couple of photography forums, but TE is all of above. 2-5 people helping in Digit forums and made few changes.

Out of curiosity, do we need General section? People can simply go to the sister (or brother?) site Funenclave and post it there. Just look at the threads posted over there. Give it more days and we would have a bunch of people into matirmonial and stuff.

I did speak to Safin, (yet to hear from Apex and Renegade) but this is very much doable. If any rep (from a manufacturer not a distributor) wants to have an official presence on the forums they are welcome to do so.

[repeat] Members do, mods dont  so we dont want anyone feeling left out which is why we made things automated [/repeat]

great point but whos going to do it, people come make a huge cry and after a period disappear and things get dead. seen it happen upteen times

as a stress reliever yes and please no mudslinging at other places :P

Both Renegade and Safin have given approval for the Service Rep idea. Ask them to sign up and we can kick-start a section for them.

Good.See now it wasn't that hard, was it? No hard feelings to anyone. Just doing my part for the good of the forums. Its not much, but I am sure I can get few company folks to assign service reps on the forums but they'll talk to you guys with the specifics as the forum belongs to you. But if you guys can forward me the guidelines for service reps, I can let them know accordingly. No assurances, but we should have some major brand (pc hardware related- ain't gonna deviate from my thing) by the end of 6 months (although I wouldn't be suprised if the other forum hooligans w00ting people around here but meh!!)

Relevant company personnel will be contacted and notified. I will tell them to PM renegade and you guys take care of the rest. What about the "work in progress" section. The least can be done is named to something appropriate and pushed to the top where it belongs.

Yeah, but then again- I am The Sorcerer ;).
