Dear Friends,
Please try and not use the word "GO/Group Order' unless you really mean it. :)
When,
A dealer or member posts a rate for a certain product and keeps selling it as and when members post- is a regular deal/business/trade and not a GO. :cool2:
When,
A member runs an IC till a fixed date, with no orders being taken beyond that date-
gets a rate lower than the lowest retail price for the item in the market because of the collective/bulk order-
and then sells those to the confirmed members at NO extra cost apart from actual cost price+shipping (new members in queue maybe added to compensate for those who back out and miscellaneous expenses incurred by the GO executor, if too much, maybe shared by all by prior decision)-
Then it can be called a GO in the real sense of the word. :)
Using the term GO liberally and taking it for granted as some do- dishonours the value and importance of the word and all that it stands for in communities like ours. :hap5:

Well it is a valid point I say.

There have been several cases where the members have started a 'hardware store' in the name of GO. I thought GO meant taking group orders, not running orders.

Now if some other member posts that he is getting a lower price elsewhere. The GO starter wants that post to get deleted. So much for community serving honest members.

Some members used to disrupt each others GO in the past. Thank goodness they have left TE now. Helping the community my ass, clearly shows your intentions.

If you really want to help the community with your so called non-profit forever-running 'GOs'. Then you should respect that the same device is available for cheaper some place else.

We didnt step in coz as long its helping the members its fine. Besides I also feel that the person who is taking so much pains should have the liberty to make something for himself too. But please, please dont try to act self righteous.
 
I was about to post this issue in Feedback section, Bikey beat me to it :p

Particularly in Dealers section, we know that they are dealers and doing a business there, but why do they start to sell as GO? It is taking away the real meaning of GO. Dealer can sell without using the name GO, it will no way affect their budiness (dealers here have got good reputatuion among the memebers). Let the Word GO alone for real Group Orders.
 
agree.. and do we really need these members flaming each other over better prices??

infact.. of late things have come to a head such that they go abt compulsively posting abt how the OTHER members GO is BETTER and they wish them luck and how the prices are the BEST... i mean.. what a load of crap????

i think the mods should try and ensure that threads dont get crapped on like this anymore...

I didn't want the mods/dealers to post- they are doing their job and pretty fine too- just was expecting some thoughts from other members. :)

Just reiterates the "Chhod na yaar- mewaa khaa aur nikal le" attititude most have. :P

Please take it in the right spirit of the place- i think i am not scandalising anything/anyone. :ashamed:
This i a genuine request. :)

Titled 'GO' or not- the products will sell if the price is appealing (mostly)- and so will those ppl buy who don't mind shelling a lil more so as not to move their @$$ even if it's not so appelaing. :P

So please spare it for 'losers/emotional fools' like me who sometimes pay from their pocket to honour certain sales/purchases/GOs on TE. :)

IC : Interest Check, thread started to see if there are enuf interested buyers at a particular price point.

I know this is a different site, but I posted similar views on a different forum. Though I have a very bad experience alongwith some others with the only single GO(in the real sense) that i was a part of but still removing the word GO from Dealer's thread wud keep the spirit alive for the real GO's.

IMHO GOs can be started by the dealers if the product is of a single type (unlike the amazon/newegg thread which can't be called a GO)

a group order doesnt need to be limited to a single product but rather it should follow the format where the person conducting it takes all the orders initially within a specified period and then closes it down (or stops taking new orders) and then dispatches it to the members once he is done procuring the items.

at the moment here on TE people use the same thread and leave it open and continue taking orders making it a dealer store or so rather than a group order
 
OK, I believe I need to add something here.

First off the dealers section on TE is called "Dealers Paradise" and not "Group Orders". Yes, the nomenclature of "GO" is used on thread titles...the reason being simple...people are familiar with the term "GO" and the minute they look at it they know that its some kind of product that is for sale.

For example if you are in the habit of using the "Get New Posts" button like I am and lets say that currently you are not looking to purchase anything and you see a new thread titled "Logitech MX-518" without any prefix like GO to it. At this point you are confused what that thread is all about (it could be a sale thread, it also be a thread about someone asking for suggestions on the MX-518 or it could also be somone who is having some trouble with his MX-518). A simple prefix of "GO" tells the user that he need not click on the thread as he is currently not looking to buy anything.

As far as dealers are concerned we use our own section called Dealers Paradise and we pay a monthly fee to Tech Enclave for doing so. There is no community service here or anything of that sort. Its pure business. Its a paid service for selling our products and services and that is exactly what we are doing. Similar to how we would pay ebay, rediff or india times for setting up a shop on their site. If the problem is with the prefix of "GO" being used in the title then that can be revised and the moderators/admins could come up with a new prefix like "DP - Dealers Paradise" or "DS - Dealer Sale"

Try to add something on Amazon to add and select "FREE shipping" option. Notice that the estimate time of shipping "within the US" for the free shipping option is 5-7 days. And notice that in my thread you are promised a delivery to India in the same time period. How do you think that works? Before I started this thread (when people would ask me for individual quotes) they would get quotes on price and ETA based upon the fact that it takes 5-7 days to ship within the US itself and then add another extra days from shipping from my NY location to India. If they wanted a faster shipping then they would have to pay for the 1 day or 2 day shipping option as listed by Amazon. However, since this GO was started....since I would be getting "Group" or "Bulk" orders over a period of time...it made it worthwhile for me to purchase a yearly membership of "Amazon Prime" that gives free 2 day shipping on all order that qualify for "Amazon Free Super Saver" shipping. Purchasing the membership only made it worthwhile because of the fact that there would be "bulk" orders over a period. Hence, the cost of the yearly membership gets divided between the estimated number of order I would getting over a years time and in totality works out much cheaper than an individual asking me for a quote with the option of 2 day shipping from Amazon. Without having a group order this would not have been possible.

P.S. My above comments are strictly for the "Dealers Paradise" Section and does not relate to GO's started by Individuals.

I was just saying that according to me, a GO is some people getting together and ordering something(s) at one time and not many things. Just a linguistic meaning ano NOT criticism.

na na, that wud be completely wrong, u forgot how jaben and sidewinder GO's work????? I think KMD has already given the solution, instead of using GO, use DS or whatever the admins decide. i.e if they decide to change the current use of the word GO.

KMD's Deals maybe called - KMDO- short for 'KMD Offers'.
just like movie banners say 'Mukta Arts presents'. :rofl:
Then again, it sounds like KoMoDO- might scare away buyers. :rofl:

Phoenix's Deals maybe called 'PO' as in 'Phoenix Offers'.
Then again, 'po' in some language means 'go away' iirc.
So buyers dont go to that thread. :rofl:

Seems like i am a disaster at thinking up names. :P
