But KMD, the latter is if Dealer 'X' wants to start a shop on TE.

The thing is, some peeps have been offered to do what you say but they didn't have the balls to do it because of the rep they had on TE and wouldn't have been able to carry it off on their own.
That was the kind of awareness and unity on TE then- TEites were feared/respected as no-nonsense peeps.

TE has grown larger with many peeps coming here just to leech info and use the market.
So many, who look at the web as a world of gullible fools ready for culling and want to make a quick buck and disappear will keep trying such stunts.
This is evident from the no. of so called GOs that have popped up every now and then in the past and by anyone and everyone.

This discussion is taking place to come up with a way to thwart the scamsters and only let the genuine GOs happen- which in turn helps the dealer section as well.

There are newbies who do GOs hoping to earn a quick buck and even some who do it to earn reps and popularity.
(having 300 odd spam posts doesn't make one a senior)

There was one such chap whose credibility was questioned- and was accused of setting up shop for some dealer.
The dealer, when notified of the same, had asked the guy to stop all sales, as he really wasn't in need of an alternate market or any recognition/promotion.
But that person did it on his own only to seek popularity.
Imagine someone spending 40-50K for purchasing stuff w/o confrming buyer's credinbility or getting paid in advance.
Noprizes for guessing who (and please don't name if you do.)

Not a bad idea, IMO. This way members looking to make a quick buck would think twice before coming out with the offer. It'll also keep the dealers in touch with the latest market prices and revise their offers as and when the need arises. Its a win / win situation for the members. Besides, it'll save time and money for members here, who sometimes, conduct GOs even when they have other more important things to tend to.

Also, instead of the dealer waiting for a PM from staff and/or a member waiting for staff approval to begin a GO, why not it all be in the open? Most GO threads start off with a IC. All dealers are very much aware of the prices being posted there. If, a dealer can organize a deal at the same or better price than mentioned in the IC, then he could post the same in that thread and start a GO to that effect. Why involve staff in it and waste time?

an IC thread works fine too. Keep a specified time frame before the member IC thread can become a GO so that dealers get a chance to see the thread and also talk to their suppliers etc if they could get that pricing and if no registered dealers jumps on the IC in that time frame then the IC is free to turn into a GO organized by that member.

Perhaps exclusion of Market section threads/posts from New Posts should solve this. Then again, not all members would like the idea. Will check with admins if anything could be done about this. Like, members be given option in UserCP to select which sections to be included in New Posts.

Giving the Option in the UserCP is a better choice that completely eliminating the market section from new posts.

Also I dont subscribe to your idea of asking dealer's first if they can start a GO. That will be like a protection mechanism and ya that will create a field day for the the dealers...

Well KMD....none of it was regarding you......recently as u might have seen in the other forum as well as here one of the dealer is terming everything possible as GO which is very misleading. In fact in a GO the members should be able to voice the opinion of any better pricing or any other concerns. But the dealer(s) gets big time pissed off if someone posts the market or lowest possible offers from local retail markets.

And Ya as long as the price is same or better the dealers getting the 1st chance is a very good idea and ya as KMD says finally it will be the product differentiation and service that will survive...but yes in Indian hardware scene price is what also speaks ...ppl will rather get the MX 518 if a member organizes a time taking GO at say Rs 1.2k shipped(even it takes 7-10 days) rather than pay say 1350~1.4k shipped for a 1 day shipping. And ya that has happened and finally KMD I know u want to mantain the QoS but sometimes when you start you store volumes will also come into picture

i really dont understand even under the name of EPP... phoenix (wants to hide identity of his rep) is not providing the real bill nor is raghu providing ( he surely gets one..)....

so how is it that watever prices they quote are REAL...

for instance DEll 2408WFP is available at the price of 25.4k with EPP...
how come naga and phoenix go charges 26.5k PLUS....

also even with EPP dell provides direct shippin to the person who wana recieve the LCD... so y not do it directly rather than make the person pay more shipping charges for blue dart n all....

i really dont mind if i am not allowed to run a GO here...
for mere bucks i am not here to lose my credentials...

and in case of DELL... it does deliver directly to the person who wants to recieve... its not necessary that even on EPP tat the LCD has to be delivered to person who ordered..

even i have used this provision for sendin a Dell 2408wfp to my cousin in bangi.. although it was on name of the person i knew... it works like a charm. again i was charged only 25+k on the EPP... (2408wfp)
i`ll follow the same (if i cant , i wont run one )

but y not others ???

PS: OR is it like u ppl suggestin that such GO`s shud be cr8`d under the tag of IC ... ....

The dealer you are talking about is what drove me away from the other forum too. If you see my participation is the last one week has gone down drastically. After all the lies, the deceit and the havoc he created on the other forum...its all forgotten and he is allowed to resume back to normal like nothing ever happened. I had decided to focus my efforts on TE of late and its really sad to see that he has made it here too as a registered dealer.

There are a lot of things on the other forum that have started to annoy me lately and I just hope and pray that TE does not become the same and keep a much more vigilant watch on GO's organized by both members and dealers. You are absolutely right...you have every right to voice your opinion if you feel the price is not justifiable enough to start a GO for it and you should raise your voice. There should be a check on just a hardware store being started on tech forums with numerous GO's that include every product the guy has in his store. That is not needed on a tech forum. Most people here are tech enthusiasts and know where to get their everyday stuff that will be available at their nearby shop. Which is why I focus only on items that are hard to find or are unique in nature. Yes, I do have GO's for stuff that is available locally, most of which is sold at the same price I buy them for...like the games, the Ep-630's and yes, even the MX-518. These products are however carefully chosen as the targets because of their popular demand from the members themselves.

Regarding your comment on the MX-518 ---> the price of Rs. 1,250 is the price at which I get the mouse for and even the bill provided to everyone is from the original dealer I buy it from. So, to begin with...there is no way I can go down on that price. Secondly, you need to understand that there is a lot of difference between buying online and buying from your local market. When you go shopping in your local market and ask around for the rates of the MX-518 in 2 - 3 shops ...you are completely justified in making the price as your only selection criteria between 2 -3 shops. I mean, why shouldn't you..right? afterall thats all your care about cuz the after sales service is going to be provided by Logitech anyway right? You take the product in one hand and you give the shop keeper the money from the other....end of transaction. Now, when you talk about online shopping between 2 dealers...the price is not the only criteria you can look at ...there are so many parameters now attached to it. Here you will be parting with your money before you even get the product in your hand (which makes trusting the dealer more important) unlike the retail shop where you did a "ek haath se de, ek haath se le). Another parameter is what are the payment options available from that dealer....is Cash on delivery an option from the dealer. Once the money transfer is done...there are parameters like how well your product is packed...how fast it is shipped and how much time it takes to reach you. Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra have Octroi....so another parameter is if I am in Mumbai City and I buy from a dealer in Mumbai city then I don't have to worry about the extra Octroi that can get charged if someone outside Mumbai ships its to me. Then comes the most important question of what happens if the courier company looses it or damages your package in transit....who takes that responsibility? does the dealer give you full assurance that he will provide you a replacement if the courier company looses the package or damages it and then lives up to his word. You have seen for yourself in this very same forum where the courier company messes up in a GO organized by a member and it is expected that both the seller and the buyer have to share the losses.

Not every customer is the same....for some yes, price may be the only criteria but for someone else some other criteria maybe more important. Its wrong to generalize all Indians are cheap and want the lowest price. If that were the case shops like Croma would shut down by now. I myself have bought a simple Logitech mouse from Chroma even though I know that I can get it for half the price at Lamington road just cuz I needed it right that minute and Chroma happens to be very close to my place and didn't want to waste a whole day making a trip to Lamington road. So, you see convenience here was a bigger factor for me than the price.
Also, there are so many people who would rather buy gfx card or mobo's locally rather than through me by paying a higher price cuz they value the convenience of local warranty more than the price.

While dealing with Raghu, i myself first got the prices through EPP though a person I know and then went ahead with the deal. And my next 2 purchases were through my contact in Dell through EPP and i was getting same prices as that of Raghu's GO and I knew this guy personally. Final price was coming within 100-200 bucks of what Raghu quoted me. SO I started buying from my contact.

And I clearly stated that to Raghu as well in our IM conversations. I was even in touch with him for quiet a while after he suggested that he plan to stop arranging monitor GOs due to lack of time and we were even in conversation about letting you carry on GOs or through my employee contact which I scrapped because you were already arranging GOs, saved me hassle of arranging. But even my EPP contact was doing this as a favor or courtesy to me and my father with whom he had good relations and was not making any profit.

one more thing... yesterday the whole debate was the bill shud be as charged.... now its like make ur profit .. pay to TE and give a damn to the bill...

3) Bill Should be of the amount charge exludin shippin.

4) Make it compulsory for all the ppl interested to cr8 a GO irrespective to their relationships with fellow members. ( as u said u never purchased one thru phoenix urself... then think from other purchasers perspective.. who

Cant you understand a perfectly clean explanation why you should not in the first place be talking about other dealers GOs here?? You have no right to even object to any Registered dealer's prices. If you find them interesting, buy it. Otherwise dont. Its as simple as that.

Rules will be decided by the staff. And they may or may not follow your suggestions. Again if you cant understand why dealers are allowed to make profit from my previous post then sorry there is nothing more to say to you.

Thats pure whining and nothing else.

When there were valid points raised about predatorvj's GOs, we even allowed them to stay.

The issue is about use of TE as platform to make profit and dealers are charged % fee + fixed fee for that. And whoever found violating the rule will be asked for explaination and thats what happened and you reacted in totally incorrect way.

Did we delete all your valid queries in other people's GOs and ICs? If we were biased we would have done that.

The issue is- please don't use the term GO na.
Here is how i look at it.
When a GO from a dealer or any shop is arranged, the dealer is making a profit after all but a lil less than usual low qty/individual sales due to the volume.
But the member takes nothing(except for the misc expenses that maybe declared and shared by unanimous decision- a very rare happening again in some genuine TE GOs).
So ppl get it lower than market rate.
If deal is directly with distributor, very rarely, dealer is bypassed and the saving is much more- like EP-630 GOs.
GO via some retailer/dealer for that would have costed much more imo- especially noting the reatil price at that point of time.
So your deals are not very different -
if we consider dell as a distributor and your contact(dell rep, who you say keeps a cut for self) as a retailer/reseller and you as the member arranging the so-called GO.
But what the problem in this is that the dell rep is not an authorised reseller/retailer and even he/she cannot declare that to Dell as Dell ain't only a distributor but also is a reseller/retailer itself and this is not legal even as per them.
Also he/she is unable to give a bill for the exact amount as a dealer does. :no:
That is also akin to a saleman/woman within a shop selling lower for kickbacks and can be kicked out/imprisoned for theft/fraud/ 'chaar sau beesi'.
So calling your deals a GO is dicey and can reflect on TE's (and its member's) image as a place where seemingly some sorta fraud occurs via GOs.
What you can do is be the unofficial rep for your Dell rep and start threads in Dealer's section as when you need (i.e prices go up or down when prices are revised by dell). :hap2:
You may easily be selling 10 monitors per thread (maybe much more with your friendly, helpful nature and services offered ) and your contact(dell rep as u say) who keeps a lil for self for not being a saint/God won't find the fees much of a bother looking at the larger gains.

That way- by being an unofficial rep for the person who keeps the cut(dell rep as u say) but an official, regd. dealer on TE on his/her behalf and making him/her pay the fees for the month/s you run the sale-
you can command- 'Take it or leave it'- silencing all the mouths and stopping all the fingers pointed at you.
Coz the term GO is best left to those who do it in a genuine way not coz they think they are saint/God but those who treat others as important/equal as self and do unto others what they deem fit for self.

On a bit of an unrelated note, there are some folks who are here entirely here for the market section.

From a market which was there to serve the interests of the TE community, it would seem now that the Community now seems to exist to serve the interest of the TE Market.

We have a lot more members and dealers here than the old times. And even the 35 post limit is being filled by posting in the market threads.

Small suggestion- can the posts in the market section not be added to the post count ? They really dont serve any interest to the community. Long ago, We used to disapprove of people like viking and geeky_78, and then some others who solely exist on TE for the purpose of selling. But now there are a lot more , and It's taking up a lot of time and effort, both from the mods and us members.

A more extreme suggestion would be to move the market section to a seperate portal. like the way we banished the OT posts to funenclave.

How to deal with members who want to use the forum for commercial uses is a very sticky issue. I saw how much it can get ugly elsewhere. It isnt that bad yet here , But at the rate we're going this has the potential to become a lot worse. It's just the openness and proactiveness of the mods here which is keeping the situation here under control

i really dont understand even under the name of EPP... phoenix (wants to hide identity of his rep) is not providing the real bill nor is raghu providing ( he surely gets one..)....

Didn't want to join in but since PhOeNix started the Dell GO because of my insistence and he's got to much patience to get pissed, pls note the following:

1. he's hiding his rep so that the contact doesn't get flooded with requests for EPP pricing.

2. The EPP pricing is more than what u have quoted but a little less than the price being charged. I told him to keep some for himself for the trouble he's taking and as he's a registered dealer here, I don't see any problem in that ( u shouldn't either).

3. Bills are in his name so as questions don't arise with the Dell contact for sending so many LCDs to so many different addresses in such a short period under EPP. Remember, 3 earlier and we were expecting 5 here + 1 projector. Also, even my LCD was shipped thru him as EPP sales are octroi extra and the shipping frm him (octroi free zone) works out cheaper than paying octroi here at my place.

4. If PhOeNiX has broken any rules here, I take all responsibilities.

5. It's my contact and I'm not taking ANYTHING here. PhOeNiX is arranging everything cos he's a respected and well liked dealer here and it's more convenient to ship from Mumbai than my place in the North East.

6. Please stop whining.

i really dont think that phoenix takes huge margin... but the thing is that Make the Freakin BILL mandatory for ALL.

if not so.... then it will become like someone will come hre... start a new GO... get things , take margin n later convey as if it was bot from EPP.

ppl say phoenix is a dealer... wat abt shaken ? (plz shaken dont feel offended. i trust u when u say that u dont earn thru this.. but wat if someone other member follows the same footsteps)

Also, mebbe physical presence means more to u, but for me, I've been a member of TE (and TA before that) too long to just throw it up. I value my TE membership and the friends I have here more than my friends in my offline life as here a friendship is not made by sharing a beer but thru hard earned respect and trust.

a person who buys from GO/IC is not always a old member of the forum.
many a times he is a new person....

then wats the freakin problem in SAFEGUARDING buyers rites..
