1) Not much that you will notice while gaming :) They both are similar in every way just the e7300 has extra 1mb cache.
2) M really bad with Amd :(
3) Not it isn't DDR3 it's DDR2. They both perform same unless you go for i7 you will see a difference and rest assured this rig can last you atleast 2 years :)
4) If you can hold on the Gpu purchase for 2-3 months than maybe you will have better options than

Wait for some guy for a comment on An Amd rig :)..

Ok guys, heres an update, my treasurer (i.e. my parents) have agreed upon a new budget limit and that is 30K. :D

But that also means that it needs to be an entirely new CPU, i.e. I cant reuse anything from my existing one.

Now please revise your suggestions and guide me on what configuration should I go for. One more thing, can a DDR3 + i-5 processor fit in this budget or theres a better deal present?

Thanks again!

This one is perfect change the processor to AMD Phenom II 550 (If you plan to OC..which u say u dont but then again :devil2: ) or the 620..

@karthi and Gowt1ham.. Any specific reasons behind suggesting the Athlon II X4 620? Is it better than the Phenom II X4 series? (sorry if its a noob question)

@Anubis: I already mentioned that he has to raise his budget for i5 Read the last para

@op:But the i5 rig is capable enough to outperform any amd rig out there :) so it is worth the extra money spent.....

Now I am more confused, which is the better one among AMDs Phenom II X3 720, Phenom II 550 and Athlon II X4 620? And as the price of 620 is lowest, is the performance and future upgrades limited as well? I mean if I go with the 620, only upgrading my GPU/RAM after an year or two would suffice that times gaming needs?

You have already exceeded 30k and brought it to 33.5k and you still want him to get CM Elite 310 . That'll mean his budget will be 35k , only for you

Everybody doesn't have the moolah to get i5

i7 920 performs even better , OP should go for that , right ? :p Its worth the extra money spent , no ?

Budget of 30k is a constraint here , my learned friend

@OP - Phenom II x4 is out of your budget . You don't need Phenom II x4 for download rig , 24x7

At max you can squeeze in Phenom II x3 , unless you wan't to settle for 2GB DDR3 . Still if you insist ,

Phenom II x4 925 - 7.5k

Gigabyte 785GMT-UD2H - 5.45k

XFX HD4850 512MB - 6.3k

Gigabyte 460w - 2.2k

2GB DDR3 1333MHZ Transcend RAM - 2.6k / 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHZ Transcend RAM - 5.2k

SEAGATE 500GB 7200.12 - 2.3k

CM ELITE 310 -1.5k

Total - 27.85k / 30.45k

@ OP , why are you crazy about an i5 rig? i5 rig for 24x7 donwload is not required. Still , I'll give you the option

Cpu - Intel core i5-750 (2.66Ghz) - 9.9k

Mobo - GA-P55M-UD2 - 6.2k

Ram - Transcend 2gb 1333mhz ddr3 - 2.6k

HDD - Seagate 250gb / Seagate 500gb - 2.3k

Graphics card - ATI HD 4850 512mb - 6.3k

Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 310 - 1.5k

SMPS - Gigabyte 460w - 2.2k

Total - 30.5k / 31k

If you run Adobe Photoshop and 3ds Max for most of the time then go for the AthlonII X4 620 as it is a quad core. The PhenomII X3 is a nice balance between gaming and Photoshop as it has 3 cores and also L3 Cache which comes in handy when gaming.

So its your choice of which is more important. If you are a professional(photoshop and 3ds) then go for the AthlonII X4 620/PhenomII X4 925. Else if it is learning purpose or light usage even a PehnomII 550BE should do fine(3.1Ghz, 2 cores, 6MB L3 cahce) - 4.5k :D

@ Anubis- He has a 30k budget right then i dont see why your first config doesnt fit his budget :S

:p The PhenomII 925 wil fit in nicely for him both for gaming and photoshop :) Also Visual Studio is very well optimized to use multiple cores

@Anubis: Friend he wanted an i5 suggestion i gave one i don't know anything about Amd so i told him to ask others........ And i already told him it's out of his budget i think you kind of misunderstood or you just have an habit to point at others:p
