Residents of Guwahati - Need Help !

Hi,

An urgent advice please -

Any information regarding renting the Bike (2 Wheeler) in Guwahati.

4 of us are reaching there on 14th and were were hoping to hire 2 bikes on rent, charged on daily basis ?

I tried google but no results..!

As far as I know, getting bikes for rent would be difficult there, mostly because there is no trend of tourist renting bikes.
 
Ok thanks... I guess I will ask around in city after reaching there... Else last resort is public transport.. :)
 
you should opt for public vehicle. AFAIK you wont get bikes on rent. You can book a 4 wheeler though :)
 
Sorry to disappoint you but you cannot rent a bike in the NE. I have not heard of any individual or organisation offering this service.

Where do you plan to drive from Guwahati? Can give you options.
 
I am leaving tomorrow..will reach on 13th.. This is our route Guwahati..Shillong..Cherrapunji..Guwahati.. Nameri National Park..Jorhat..Majuli.. Sibasagar.. Jorhat (+/- couple of places)..

Now Guwahati to Sibasagar is approx 350 km.. So that kind of distance can easily be covered on bike more so when we have 8-9 days to cover it..!

If we opt for 4Wheeler then for every day the cost comes out to be some 3.5 - 4k (if bargained well) and we don't want that kind of rigidity...

So I was wondering if Goa type situation can be worked out in Guwahati/Shillong..!
 
if you are thinking of going ghy to sivsagar by bike then forget it. Use public transport. There are buses running from ghy to sivsagar via jorhat
 
yeah, I also never heard of bike renting in Guwahati (or anywhere in Assam).

And also I wouldn't recommend bikes for Guwahati-Shillong-Cherapunji trip. Road have too many blind curves - and too many traffic (coal trucks mainly).

Indica and Sumo service are available - for that route.

For Shivasagar-Jorhat part, bus service is pretty decent. Its mostly non-ac but frequency is good. But again not good for bike as the road is under construction (70% completed, but still lots of dust/dirt). And, have a look at the local weather these days. Its raining there (as friends/parents told) and its like winter is back.

yeah people are using blankets again.
For local places (like Majuli or even Jorhat-Shivasagar) you can opt for local taxi (many private car run as taxi in small towns).

But it was a good trip.... More so because it was a low budget one with friends.. and the objective was more to have fun than enjoy the sceneries..!

Hi Dipen,

Could you advise on this bike trip. Even we are 4 looking for a bike trip from dec 1-dec 11 covering guwahati-shillong-cherapunji. We are in need of 2 bikes. Any help on contacts for bike will be much appreciated.
