Which resolutions are ideal for gaming on a full HD 22' monitor?
1920x1080
1680x1050
1400x900
Please give your opinions and suggestions.
thanks in advance.:)

Ideally on a LCD monitor the best resolution will be the native resolution, which in your case will be 1920 x 1080, otherwise try gaming on 1280 x 720.

1400 x 900 is the native resolution for native resolution.
1920 x 1080 is HD reolution, also native resolution for almost all HD monitors in this day and age.

Yes, but at that resolution we need a powerful graphic card.

What are ups and downs when we play at resolution less than the native?

You should never buy a Full HD monitor for gaming, unless you have a HIGH END Gaming PC.

Ups: Performance and better frame rate

Downs:1)faded image
2)Distorted gameplay

These things can be tackled with nVIDIA's control panel with custom resolutions,to some extents.
But at the end of the day it's not the monitor that you bought to use @s the "FULL HD Monitor":P

1920*1080 is 16:9 aspect ration. So any lower res with same aspect ration doesnt look distorted to any side, but might not be as sharp as in native resolution.
other resolutions with same aspect ratio are:

1920*1080
1600*900
1366*768
1280*720
gaming on these resolution with a 1920*1200 monitor will make the image distorted slightly, and will look stretched from top to bottom.
These are all 16:10
1920*1200
1680*1050
1400*900
gaming on these resolution with a 1920*1080 monitor will distort the image, and will look bit stretched towards sides.

I play even at 16x10 and 14x9 with no problems whatsoever. Anything below 14x9 on a 21.5 isn't that good tho. And of course just like a CRT, lower rez = less sharpeness

The rest is just theory now! Practically, it works like a CRT as long as you buy the right monitor and just drop 1-2 rez notch down!
