Hi According to EVEREST software My Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8VM533M-RZ with inbuilt Display Adapter S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR 8D04 & I'm using Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition.

Now the problem is My LCD monitor support best resolution is 1440 x 900 but when i go to display properties I get maximum 1280 x 1024 (both 16 & 32 bit).:@

So plz help me and how to set my resolution according to my monitor 1440 x 900.

is LCD driver installed? wat LCD name does it show in display properties? if it shows plug & play monitor... install your (latest) monitor drivers.... use latest driver and chipset drivers/display drivers for mobo.. if one of the both are not present, this problem happens.. this prob happened to my LCD once as the drivers were absent

thats what ^ download Windows 2000/XP drivers and now install drivers through device manager ---> LCD monitor----> update drivers.. if ur familiar with have disk, give path to extracted folder of downloaded drivers and see if it is able to use those drivers.

AFAIK,S3 ravage integrated graphics chipset is quite old and there is very little possibility of it supporting a widescreen resolution(1440X900).do correct me if im wrong.

have u checked with the website regarding the same?

the s3 drivers can be obtained from the fllg site:

S3 Graphics Co., Ltd.

last resort: to use some 3rd party software to forcibly change the resolution.

advice:now that u have a 19" WS lcd, consider getting a gfx card or atleast change to a new mobo. ,!

Firstly thank for your help, as per your link i download the latest version and it shown the driver database, but still not get the 1440 x 900 option. could you tell me any software name which is set the resokution forcefully ?

Not too sure about it, but Entech PowerStrip might help force a specific resolution. I have no idea if it's dangerous though!

yaa I'm try this,,its horribly. my full for screen splashing very fast so restart the pc and go to safe mode. uninstall program. solved it.

PowerStrip is the only thing that comes to mind..

two others you could try:
ToCA EDIT 3.0 - Files

DisplaySwitch Platinum - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com

(Do use the above software at your own discretion as there are chances of it affecting your resolution settings permanently)

Check in motherboard page for any update BIOS for your motherboard which will fix the problem, else buy a sub 1K graphic card

like i told you, that's the only sensible option..

S3 will not be able to support 1440x900 resolutions. Max is the one thats being shown to you. If you try to force it, all you will get are some price"less" artifacts :P

Finally after read many articles, threads the resolution is :

Geforce FX 5200-128MB AGP Card TV Out

Price : 3250.00 (too high for me)
siffy shopping rate: 1550.00
