Hello sir,

A friend of mine had purchased a CM psu a little over 2 years ago. The bill has 3 years warranty clearly mentioned on it. The psu recently died and took along with it the motherboard. The motherboard itself was replaced but the issue remains with the psu as the shop keeper refuses to accept the psu for replacement stating that warranty offered is now 2 years and no longer 3 years. How can u change warranty period in the middle of an existing contract?? And please for the record, clarify if the warranty period is 2 years or 3 years. The product is CM 350W PSU. I dont have the model number at hand but i will post it if need be.

Is this the kind of ethics and behavior we can expect from such a large company?? If so then do know that u have lost a customer.

Kind Regards

Moksh

Re: Very Dissapointed With CM Warranty

Cooler Master Extreme power series and Elite Power Series carry only two years warranty. So most probably the dealer is right. Though the OP was indeed misinformed if he was told that it carried three year warranty.

Re: Very Dissapointed With CM Warranty

@OP, you can PM the CM rep with the serial no, he can exactly tell you if your PSU is still in warranty

Bill can say anything , many bills by default have 3 years warranty printed for all items even if actual warranty is one year . This PSU probably never had three years warranty , i had a cooler master 390 watt which also had two years warranty.

In this two years old For Sale thread Mediahome has mentioned that 350 watt has two years warranty http://www.techenclave.com/closed-deals/power-supply-range-157954.html

Seems like the dealer messed up.

I do guess in this case i was misinformed.

I shall do the same.

In either case, why is it so hard for manufacturers to be forthcoming about the warranty on their products and mention it clearly on the products/boxes so as to make things easier after the deal is done. In this case, things would not have come to this if the warranty period was clearly defined by the manufacturer.

And thank you all for the help :)

Re: Very Dissapointed With CM Warranty

Well, they do mention the warranty, either on the box or on the guide/pamphlet inside the box. I am sure everyone wants to cover their own as*...

Not covering my own ass sire. I remember when i got my CM 650W eXtreme power, neither the guide nor the pamphlet had the details on it.

Re: Very Dissapointed With CM Warranty

On my bill it was clearly mentioned CM Extreme Power Plus 600 with 2 years distributor warranty.

My bill expressly stated 3 years warranty and hence the confusion.

The guy in the counter who must have typed the details for the invoice on the PC, did a goof up then. There's nothing much you can do here.

Re: Very Dissapointed With CM Warranty

Dear Moksh,

Sanket here from Cooler Master. The Elite and Extreme series always carried 2 years warranty. Only the 80Plus PSUs offered 5 years warranty. Sorry forthe grievances caused to you, but CM has has little do with this. We have always stated our warranty norms very clearly to the channel. In fact they are also stated on our Indian website too. I don't know whether the dealer did this on purpose or it was a clerical error on his part when creating the Invoice.

However, if you want to raise this officially with Cooler Master, i suggest you send me a mail on my email id i.e. sanket_naik@coolermaster.com. Also please attach the scan copy of your invoice.

Best Regards

Sanket

Hello Sanket,

I guess it was just a clerical mistake on the dealers side of things. I am sorry to drag cm into this whole mess. My sincerest apologies for the whole misunderstanding.

Kind Regards and apologies once again

Moksh

EDIT - Mods please close the thread. It was a misunderstanding.

Re: (Edit: Warranty for Entry level PSUs is 2 years) Very Dissapointed With CM Warran

Moksh- Sometime around Q1/Q2 2008, warranty on CM Extreme Power series went from 3yrs to 2yrs IIRC. :)

Mods- please add [Resolved] to the thread title or edit the title suitably or delete if need be. :)

Re: (Edit: Warranty for Entry level PSUs is 2 years) Very Dissapointed With CM Warran

Dear Moksh,

Chill dude! Any other help you need drop me a mail :). And as mentioned by BIKeINstein, pad [Resolved] to the thread title and absolve CM! Please.

I'm creating another thread using which you all can figure out the warranty on your respective CM products by entering the serial number. Plus one more link to the stated warranties on all Cooler Master products.

Cheers!

Sanket.
