Hi all,
I had recently installed win Xp Sp 3 [6-8 days ago] and office 07,
Since yesterday my system has restarted twice on its own when i was downloading something, and the second time (today)i noticed an error saying "System has recovered from a serious error" after the reboot (Send report, dont send error) . The error log reads the following:
BCCode : c2 BCP1 : 00000007 BCP2 : 00000CD4 BCP3 : 02060002
BCP4 : 86027290 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 256_1

My system config is:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.2Ghz
Intel DG33FB mobo
1Gb trancsend ram
80 GB seagate HDD.

The system was on for quite some hours (5-6 hrs)before it automatically restarted, today it restarted automatically after approx 3 hours.
Firstly is this error due to any hardware problem or is it a OS issue??

Please help me on what can be the issue and what can be solution for it.

Thanks in advance.

one more thing, how can i check the errors again?? (if they are stored in some logs), without automatic restart ofcourse :P

Dude am having the same problem. But I am not on sp3.

And i don't even know if it is a software or hardware issue. Coz it just on and off within seconds and that keeps happening.

Have called the engineer now. Fed up waiting for it to start behaving.

i dont think its a virus problem....run chkdsk utility...and then shutdown it remove and re insert the RAM after cleaning it....tht shud do

If you want to trouble shoot the error or find details about it i think you can fond the exact error message in your event viewer under the system log.

however a few things to look at while debugging BSOD's are

1) Hardware connections (make sure your hardware is connected properly, reinsert your RAM like many of the others have suggested, check the power and data connectors for the other devices)

2) Driver issues ( Make sure that your drivers are installed properly and there are no conflicts in the system. to be doubly sure you can download and install the latest drivers)

3) Thermal (Make sure that your PC is not overheating, i used to have this problem earlier and found that my Proc was overheating and crashing).

BSOD's are windows means of handling exceptions from whcih it cannot recover, so it tries to write a exception message and dump its memory contents to disk. Also this will cause your system disk to fill, look for *.mdmp files on your drive these are the memory dump files, whcih can be used for debugging the exact nature of the exception.

Cool. Will search for the *.mdmp files when I go home this evening. Will probably ask u'll for help in understanding what that means.

(Whenever my system has this problem I remove the heat sink and take it near my AC. Chill it and then refit it. Nomally my PC runs for abt an hour or two without rebooting then. BUT I am sure it is not a thermal heating issue coz when it reboots it does not give the thermal heating error msg. It just shows me the motherboard graphic and in 2 secs starts going off and on. Doesn't come to the stage where it asks to press f4 to resume, etc)
