congrats andrew! and hey katmandude thats really (catch me if u can) a nice sig.
.....but i would agree with hammerhead on the matter of open polling,its a better way to assess these type of things on discussion boards as you can easily check for those new registered id's or may be you could have a minimum number of posts criteria for voting.

Do you really think people will do that ? I for one don't think that way, since there are no incentives involved.

The poll should be made open to all IMO.

then it becomes a popularity contest with ppl voting for their friends etc. thats why it was decided to keep the judging within staff and staff not taking part either
 
But seriously, how big is the staff? Having 10-20 votes does not mean much. It may not matter to the ones who take the competetion seriously. Plus how do we know that staff is not biased, I mean that even staff have friends (no offence intended). I like the idea of nick to have a minimum number of posts to be eligible to vote if the system allows it.

well we usually make it a point to be objective. but if a public poll is preferred there is no issue doing that either (easier for me afaik :lol:) lets hear from the ppl who regularly take part though
 
I think a public poll would be more exciting, members could see the opinions grow as they are added. I think it would add an element of competitiveness and there wouldn't be any more lag in between, while moderators are judging... but moderators still get a vote too.. so it's a win win :D

Perhaps we could do a poll/choice for members to pick the subject matter too
