Hey guys............dumped my iphone to get this baby!
Damage: 28.5k
Real Damage: iphone purchased from US: 17.5k
iphone sold to my phone dealer: 22k
New n95 8GB: 28.5k
Actual cost incurred: 24k
I was going to put up my brand new (screen protector unremoved) 1.1.1 for sale on TE, but looking at the flames Evo got, I am glad I didnt. But I feel Evo should have been more direct. Therez no harm in selling stuff for profit. Its simple laws of economics: Demand and Supply! On second thoughts, I anticipated that the 1.1.1 shortage wud occur as 1.1.2 OTB is jailbroken but not unlocked i.e. an 1.1.2 iphone out of the box (OTB) can perform as an apple touch but cant make calls as the baseband is yet to be hacked. And could have demanded a higher price. Anway, nevertheless, I am so mighty happy with the N95 8GB, i cant even express.
Well, with regards to iphone, it truly is revolutionary and rightly deserved TIME magazine's innovation of the year award. But at the end of the day, it's your device and u should be able to make the most of it. According to me its highlights were:
1. The best in phone browser! period
2. An amazing video player on the go
3. Brilliant user interface
4. Glamor Quotient.
5. Fast as hell!
My reasons for it being not apt for me
1. Browser is good, but where are the hotspots? Browsing on a slow EDGE connection is painful. Wifi connectivity is available at home and in college, but
at both places I carry my laptop, which I would anyday use over it rather than browse on a small screen just for the heck of it.
2. I own a PSP and trust me, I find a screen of this size, (its 4.3 inches vs 3.5 inches for the iphone), still small to be looked at for long hours. I have really experimented with the PSP with this regard and trust me with the bumpy mumbai public transport ride, it becomes worst. Besides u gather all the attention and risk your device.
3. the nokia S60 3rd edition aint bad either.
4. Glamor Quotient: for the features the n95 8gb provides, I can live without it. the n95 8gb infact is a good looker itself.
5. The n95 8gb with double the RAM (128MB) is zipping fast too with instant responses like the iphone on every UI access, except while in use with the CAM.
Problems or lacking features:
1. No data over bluetooth, only voice
2. No A2DP
3. 2MP Cam, no autofocus.
4. No FLash
5. No video recording, the n95 has VGA @ 30 FPS and trust me with 8 gig space....ur video shooting sessions can turn from miserly snippets to feature length movies
6. Cannot forward messages
7. Only EDGE, no support for the upcoming 3G networks. (A little harsh u can say )
8. Battery is not user replaceable and will cost a whooping 78$ to replace
9. No warranty
10. Speakers are weak! I cudnt simply put it on 'only ringtone' in Mumbai.
11. No FM
12. No GPS (Harsh again, sorry )
13. 3.5 mm audio jack is recessed! Mod ur expensive headphones if u like
14. Work your way around using the iphone as an external storage device to utilize the 8 gig space!
15. No TV-out (sorry, harsh again )
I wanted to upload pics, but too tired now!
I will post them soon. In the meanwhile u can checkout the review at
