REVENGE OF THE SITH Officially Receives A PG-13 Rating

On May 19th, fans of all ages will see the final installment of the STAR WARS saga with EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. However, for first time ever it will be rated PG-13! Over the weekend both Aint It Cool News (a movie news website) and the Daily Herald newspaper have confirmed that George Lucas’ conclusion to his nearly 30 year epic Space Opera received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. What does this mean? Well it just means that some of the material found in the film may be inappropriate for kids under the age of 13 and parents are strongly cautioned. Whether this is due to the film’s violence or thematic elements has not been revealed yet.

A funny coincidence is that over twenty years ago George Lucas was also involved in the film that inspired the creation of the PG-13 rating. In 1984, when INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM was released, parents were shocked at the violence and disturbing images that the film depicted. While the MPAA didn’t think the film deserved an R rating, it certainly was too intense to be considered PG material. And so a rating was created that would fall in-between PG and R. All thanks to the twisted mind of George Lucas!

While some may be worried that this a bad direction for the STAR WARS series, I for one welcome this as a good sign. This rating promises a film with more intensity and drama than any of the previous prequel films to date. Perhaps Lucas has finally redeemed himself, and all the naysayers will have to eat crow. We’ll know for sure when REVENGE OF THE SITH premieres May 19th with a PG-13 rating! The MPAA is expected to release an official statement or press release sometime this week. We’ll keep you posted with more news as it comes in!

Well if u didn't like or haven't seen the earlier Star Wars movies I can understand what ur saying, but if u have...how could u ever consider the story weak? Hell most of the story happened in this movie! I agree that the premise is certainly very weak, i.e Anakin doing all those things bcoz he gets some fleeting visions of a dying Padame. Turning to the dark side and all. I mean it's a different thing if she's actually suffering from a disease or sumthin' like that - even if it's cliched, it's atleast more concrete. Or if it had been just plain uncomplicated temptation, it would have been even better! Plus he doesn't even try to understand what's going on or why. Sure he asks Yoda about it ONCE but that's not enuf. Plus even if he believes in those visions so sincerely, that idiot can't see that Obi Wan is trying to save her, so obviously he is on their side. :S Duh! U expect more from someone who goes on to become Darth Vader.

But then if u've taken all that in ur stride - which I assume u have if u went to watch the movie cuz u've seen all the previous ones and want to know whether it's going to tie up together perfectly..ONLY that of coz bcuz u know the story - then I just don't see how u cld call the story "weak". ;)
