The Interface :

Clean, user-freindly and not very cluttered. The colour combination sure looks nice, but that's personal choice then ;)

Features:

Nothing comes close to mighty Gmail in terms of features. These guys seriously lack it though. They are offering a lot of promises though.

Whats coming to 30gigs.com in regards to other ideas?

We plan on offering a plethora of services that will out gun anyone out there. (even the big dogs, like MSN and Google)
We will begin working on a 30gigs.com user portal shortly, where you can import RSS feeds, view your email, Check the weather, and so much more.
30Gig web hosting. This will include 30 gigs of transfer and 30 gigs of space. Mysql and ftp access will be included
Who knows what else? 30Gigs marketplace? Dating? We want to create a "down to earth" site which has every feature you need.

Send email as function. This will allow you to send a email from any other address (EG, yourname@yourdomain.com, after we verify that you own this email address)

Add Geo targetting window to left side, showing you the IP and GUI Map of the senders location

Add multi language Support

Create Notifier program (Very similar to Gm*il Notifier)

Add GD2 security to signup form.

Sounds impressive huh, but that doesn't convince me so, a 1/5 for features.

Speed:

An integral part of most e-mail services is the speed in the applet. 30gigs isn't exactly fast, but it wont keep you waiting also. It may not come close to Gmail, but is faster than Hotmail and Yahoo ! for sure.

So it gets a 3/5.

Mail Handling and delivery:

Arguably the most important part of any webmail service, and I tested 30gigs with Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo !, Rediffmail and Indiatimes. All the mails were delivered which is a good sign except Rediffmail took 4 hours to receive it.

Mails sent to 30gigs were also received within 30 minutes.

So a 5/5 for mail delivery and receipt.

Conclusion:

30gigs is very new as yet and lots of features have to be added. Its still to early to give it a verdict but the verdict is positive. More than a webmail service, its a bragging service for now and I've already gained 10% more popularity in college !

30GB of space seems to be a gimmick only, but once they open FTP service it'll be a good test on thier servers. For now, migrate if you wish or even don't, trust me you aren't missing anything !

All in all 30gigs is heavily in Beta so bugs will be noticed and you have to acknowledge that. You can check the Development Blog here.

Checked it out. Simple and nice. But like u said, comes with not much features..

Am sticking with my gmail account!!:D.

Nice work out there Anish but I think it was a bit short...can make it elaborate ;)

But as for esting for the quickness/efficiency of the mail...it should have been loaded with attachments from and to rediff,yahoo,msn n gmail..........will tell the real efficiency.I am saying this bcoz ive had loads of problems with rediff receiving mails late

Yeah, there isn't much to write on the service now as most of its features aren't out yet. I will keep adding to the review (with some mods help) all the latest features that get added :)

As for effieciency testing, no problem I will do it with attachments as well, and yeah Rediff was a bit slow in receiving, otherwise pretty good, which is a big PLUS for a new webmail service.

As i am currently happy with GMail.

I would like to see the features Like:
1. Attachment Limit
2. Speed In Uploading Attachments
3. Max. Attachment Size U Can Recieve
4. Attachment Download Speed
5. Labels....if any...coz with 30 Gigs of Mail...u definately would need labling:P
6. Formats Supported in Attachment
7. Spam protection features
8. Attachment Anti-Virus Checker.

Hmm...with this post, i have bought out some important features i would like to know about;)
Do let me know as and when they appear;)

Yes XT, all that's on the way. As for uploads I guess a 600MB per file limit is set.

I believe the files section will be different from the mails one. I'll keep you guys updated on anything that pops up.
 
I have an account with 30gigs.com but I hardly use it. My account access is rather slow and I personally have experienced site downtime recently. I still opt to use free email accounts from the big boys.
