Review - Motorola Motofone F3

Checked out the motofone today...and decided to put in a little review of it.

Motorola annuonced its new motofone just a few weeks ago and every 1 was left dumbfounded with the price tag of 2000 that it was suppossed to sport.
Amazingly the phone's MRP is 1695 and is available in the market for 1500bux.

READ ON!![BREAK=The packing and acessories]

The phone comes packed in a cube plastic box almost equal to the box of the "Pringles Chips" in terms of width. The box is simple with a pic of the phone and major features mentioned on it and is sealed quite tightly.

On opening the box you would find the sleek looking phone coverd in plastic sheet and having a screen guard over its display.
There is a charger which uses the normal nokia phone jack to charge the phone, and the slot is placed on the left side, its the only slot for chargin as well as handsfree.

ALongwith the phone , the charger are the userguides and warranty document.
Sadly no handsfree is provided, even a single ear piece handsfree would have been good enough.[BREAK=The phone]

The motofone is amazingly sleek and sexy. If seen from a distance it resembles the L6.

It uses an 850Mah battery which fits in nicely and should give a long battery life as there isnt anything to use it :p

A thing to be noticed, the phone is marked Made in India:bleh:

THe phone uses the Electrophoretic Display (EPD) dubbed ClearVision that offers high-contrast even in sunlight and gives the option to see either white fonts on black or black fonts on white. The display is quite brilliant and the numbers show up big and clear on it.

Another noticable thing is that the phone's battery and signal strength indicators are above the screen display and give the impression of being 2 diffrent little screens on top, but they are part of the single screen. However this is quite innovative and i liked it very much.:hap2:

On startup a voice gives you option to choose your language of preference from english, hindi and punjabi :eek:hyeah:

Once selected, you get to set the time and date. and thats it the phone is ready to work.
[BREAK=The UI, Sound and Final Words]

The UI is completly diffrent, it comes up at the bottom in horizontal line, and the voice speaks out the icon name you move over .

The volume of the phone is loud, almost the same as K750's ringing volume. The phone comes loaded with a few tones which are just ok, and you can put in more tones, though i cant understand how :p

Final words

The Motofone is awesome!!
For 1500 bux you cant expect anything better than this. It will be available for both GSM and CDMA, and would cost Rs 1500 which is just great.

This phone just may change the competition in the lower market segment, and dont be surprised if very soon, all your shopowners, courier delivery guys, and even the cleaner of your house sport the phone out . :D

Beware Nokia ,SE , Motofone would wipe out the competition with its looks and usage

Although the lack of handsfree is a backpoint.. but this phone get a 9.99/10 from my side.:hap2:

actually ..it would take a lot of marketing from motorola to really change the low end market.... which is dominated by nokia.. and nokia = simplicity (Since its the first phone most people use)....

but well great phone. though :D. and yeah it looks like L6.. damn nice :D..

good review :D

summary of features and the price tag make it an excellent phone for tempowala, doodhwala, rickshawwala, kaamwali and koodewala.

Value for money but like I said above, wrong positioning due to price.

gr8 work. nice review. and a phone to watch out for...

maybe this will be the one to replace nokia 1100 and 1110

Wow ICE..That was one quick short review..I, for one, thought the phone would be available not before Jan07.. :S

Like Renegade mentioned, we'd be seeing this with a lot f rickshaw-wallas, etal but I still don't mind getting this one..Would make for an excellent backup phone.. :)

And ya..Repped.. :)

looks like it will surely sell like hot cakes..sumthing like what the nokia 1100 sold when first launched specially marked as MADE FOR INDIA.

really 1500 bux is so cheap for this sexy looking phone...

the phone may rule the lower segment if MOTOTROLA does the marketing properly.

and nice short review..there ICE...

and yeah repped...ya:hap2:

The positioning is really gr8 and yup the Phone sure is "MADE IN INDIA". motos could well be next big thing since da r & d is in india, computing, technogy etc if provided in local languages would sure be sold like hot cakes.

Remember rural india has the potential that no metro can offer.

Hey Great Review.. repped !!

just a couple of queries:

Is there no provision at all for a handsfree ??

How is the talk quality in low signal areas ??

hows the build quality any idea ? a friend got the W220 and said that the build quality was really bad

just ADDING to it.

Motofone would be available with a bundled offer from BSNL at a price of Rs 1,650. The new user would also get free talk-time worth Rs 150 every month for the next three years under the offer with BSNL.

Here, I didn't get it - "free talk-time worth Rs 150 every month for the next three years" :O
That is total 5400/- (150 * 12 * 3) worth of talk-time FREE :ill:

well, there is a provison for handsfree, like i mentioned, it can be attached to the same slot as the charger, but you have to buy it seperatly...

@bottle... build quality is nice... the phone feels solid and smooth in the hand.. no creaking, and the buttons are also decent...

@iosoft : those offers usually have a catch, such as you have to recharge with a minium amount or pay this much rent every month... nthing comes free u know ;)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to IceFusion again.

lol good review if this phone can withstand some good pressure in my jeans pocket i'm all for it!!
