Normally FMVs are pre-rendered and non-interactive videos that are used normally for stoy telling. However a lot of games like hl2 and such use real time rendering for cutscenes which are interactive as well. I guess that was what the author was cussing abt in the review.

Even non interactive FMVs can be used in a proper way to continue the story. One such example is riddick. The game uses FMVs perfectly.

I still dont think the dumb NFS story is needed for the game

NFS was never about the story anyway.
