if you are running only 2 sticks i would suggest sell present ram and buy RGB ram ( there were some second hand 16 gb kits going for about 5 k)

2. RGB compatibility issues between board brands...

i would still prefer selling the 4 present sticks and buying 4 rgb sticks for the easier setup
but if your heart is set on above item then 4.5 is cheapest i can see

Second issue is other way around
RAM will not have rgb compatibility issue with motherboards but kits/fans will most likely have the issue or limited functionality.
RAM manufacturers have their own rgb softwares for their ram so check the software of that manufacture before buying their ram
