CPU/Mobo Right time for Core i5?

Is it a good time for upgrading my pc to Core i5, keeping in mind the motherboard prices and especially, the recent price drop from AMD?

I was actually planning for upgrade in Jan, but then changed my mind and settled for Nov. Then I read that AMD has slashed its prices.

So, if I were to upgrade now with a budget of 20K-25K for CPU, mobo and RAM only, then what would you guys suggest? Core i5 or AMD?
 
socket 1156 which supports core i5 won't get the new 6 core intel 32nm cpus ---amd am3 on the other hand would get the 6 core cpus(6 core opterons are out already) the amd would provide a better more cost effective and long lasting solution.
