Beginner
I own a Belkin N150 Basic wireless modem router.
I am pretty much satisfied with it except for its horrible lack of range:@

The trouble i am facing with it is that to access the router i simply have to type router.com.
Even though i am finding this facility a convenience the pain its creating is that i am unable
to visit any site with "router" in its address.

This is extremely annoying since if that site is for ex. gmailrouteryours.com automatically my routers
config page pops up.

Kindly suggest something to remedy this hiccup....... TY in advance:)

router keyword would have been added to your browser to re-direct to search for local resolve

**BUMP** Someone do help me since i cant figure it out yet and there is no searches tallying my query in google so far.

All started since i installed my new router software for my Belkin wireless adapter.

Uninstalled it yet no change. Still confused and MF'ed...

Check if there's any browser addon or plugin related to belkin for each browser. Maybe thats what redirecting every domain names with "router" tag anywhere. Also if it still doesnt help, find the IP of the website you wanted and edit the root:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts and add the line, suppose if 202.200.200.50 is the ip of the domain you wanted, then it goes like this

202.200.200.50 www.gmailrouteryours.com

to find the ip just use the command in cmd

"ping www.gmailrouteryours.com"

and in the next line the ip will be displayed. If it doesnt work with your connectio (ie through the belkin router), just say the name and we can find the ip for you.

also look for any entries in the hosts like the one below and remove it

192.168.1.1 *.*router*.*

192.168.1.1 www.*router*.com

192.168.1.1 *.*_router_*.*

You could also assign public DNS servers directly on your computer. It's probably happening because all DNS requests from your PC go the router first and anything with router.com redirects to the setup interface. You can use OpenDNS, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.221.221 or even Google's own DNS servers. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

But that could slow down the browsing speed experience of other website. And as you have mentioned this started happening after installing belkin's utility, i suspect the above mentioned one wont be the reason, else it should have happened even before installing belkin utility.
