Here, high-tech machines of the international level are installed by Siemens company. In this, all the needy people will only have to pay Rs.10 for the test. If you get the same test done outside, it will cost you Rs.10,000 to Rs 12,000."

Aligned with the mission of Guru Nanak Devji's principle of "Tera Tera" (Service to All), the center also features a chemist shop offering medicines at a discounted rate of 25-30%, further easing the financial burden of healthcare for the community.

This is the reason I keep trying to Donate whatever I can in Gurudwaras...

Not saying other Relgious organizations dont give back to society just that my personal observation and myself going to Gurudwaras since childhood has always seen people not going empty handed ..( Langer or something small services is always there in return to people)

God bless this community and their wonderful service to the world.



I have seen many people even lower middle class avoiding going to doctors even with many medical issues due to the rising cost. Atleast these things will bring some relief to such people.

I have seen in Delhi Gurudwara Bangla Sahib every Saturday or Sunday ...there is a many doctor coming and taking appointments and serving poor people .
Any doctor can volunteer I think in these gurudwara to organize a service like that.

Sometimes all you need is a will to do good. Rest all falls in place.

Having said many popular Gurudwara are well funded.

There are people from abroad visiting who put dollars and golds inside those donation boxes.

I once overheard a woman NRI she was saying she wants to donate 10 lakh .

So there are lot of people donating regularly.

My own relatives sends about 2000-3000 dollars from abroad every year to Gurudwara.

Humanity is alive! Feels so good to see such things still happen

Small sceptic in me thinking soon employees there will try to 'sell' this for 3-4k to ineligible patients as 'discount'

Corruption is everywhere. So possible.

But chances are much less compared to Govt. Hospitals .

I know it is not every Gurudwara where things are all perfect. Few times I have also noticed something I didnt like it but nothing major I have seen that would make me thing otherwise.....mostly the very famous ones I have been are till now have been serving humanity quite well.

Doctor gets insecure don't be insecure Doctor, India have 1.40+ Billions Population & Poor Health, even if every city get one such Rs.10/- CT Scan Hospital still ALL Doctors can earn decent
Those who don't have time or can't wait (may be due to health issue too), will always choose Pvt. Centers.

Unquestionably the Sikh community and particularly Gurudwaras are the places where you can see the charity and service. In most places they feed and shelter without asking for the case or religion. I am not surprised by this deed.

Siemens name flashed in this news will work as silent advertising for few months or years, indirect FREE publicity for Brand Company & may be Siemens to provide them equipment's at free/concession rates.
As it's for charity, they may have applied with charity commissioner and may be get electricity on subsidies rate, plus they may contact with few Company to contribute via CSR to share some cost.
Also at private CT SCAN/MRI centers profit margin is very very high as they share profit with ... cut practice .., you know it !!!

a doctor has worked his ass off for 8-10 yrs, he invested 3-4 Cr in that machine how do you plan on compensating him and whats wrong in profit ?
No one is forcing anyone to visit a pvt center.

you misunderstood me Doc ... read last sentence of my post again carefully...
About profit, you are right, it's their choice how much they charge for, in my city I prefer a center who charge Rs.1100/- for Ultrasound and avoiding others who charges from Rs.1600-2400

Oh, I was just observing that the Rs 10 was a token amount to cover the cost of ink and paper while the actual expenses were covered by the charitable nature of the Sikh community.

Two of my closest companions at different stages of my life and have been Sikhs so I have a deep understanding and respect for their way of life.

One I knew twenty years ago, the son of first generation Indians who settled in Canada. He had shaved his head as a penance for not keeping to the Sikh faith as he should (because of the differences that arose from the environment he grew up in compared to that of his father). But every weekend he'd show up with a case or two of whatever was on sale and drink the entire night away while retelling the life story of the first Guru and all those that came after him. I don't drink so those were very long nights.

The other I met fourteen years ago and he had an oath with his grandfather that he remained both celibate and sober, and he kept it the entirety of the seven years that I knew him. He'd always be ready to go on a 700km road trip to a different country to pickup a shipment I had sent there. We could've been brothers even though his view of faith was "khuda se kuch lena dena nahin" (and yet he'd never step out without his turban or his turban pin).

There have been others, like a school classmate that walked 5km with me home after a school play because I didn't know the way and another who let me stay for a couple of nights in an unfamiliar city because I hadn't found an apartment yet. They've all been very respectable wherever I met them.

My generation isn't on social media so all I have is fond memories of the years that passed.
