RSS asks Govt to ban Flipkart and Amazon

Juggernaut
Even as the Indian e-Commerce space grows at a blistering pace, thanks to fresh fund injections and aggressive marketing strategies, the economic wing of the RSS has said that such sites are a threat to Modi's 'Make in India' agenda, and are“killing domestic players in the Indian market”.

The RSS wants the government to ban foreign sites like Amazon, as well as Indian players such as Flipkart which have high foreign fund infusion, according to this report in the Indian Express.

The report quotes Ashwani Mahajan, SJM national convener as saying, “We are of the opinion that FDI in e-commerce should be prohibited by law. Though we do not allow FDI in e-commerce sites, they circumvent the law to sell their product in the country. Even Indian e-commerce firms like Flipkart have turned to be foreign now with funding from outside. There is a lacuna in the law and this cannot be allowed. We have asked the Finance Minister to plug loopholes in the law".

I used to like few principles of RSS earlier which were being taught few decades back, statements from last few years are really worth a laugh.

Aahhh. Now Fm is going to listen to these dumbshits. As long as End consumers are benefited, we don't give a fish and no one should.

^they may have a point. I hear lot of people saying that Flipkart is somehow avoiding taxes with the loopholes. However I am yet to read a solid argument. On this very forum I have seen guys saying same. But I am yet to be convinced.

This is the struggle Modi is going to have with some of his people. Look at his actions since coming to office, going abroad all of the time. 50% of India's GDP derives from trade abroad. It's quite obvious that he intends to make full use of globalisation.

But there are some old types these jagraan manch ones who prefer self reliance. Which is at odds with his plans. You can't tell the world to come and make in india and shut the doors to foreign goods.

I see this as giving them a voice and not necessarily that they will be able to change much.

flipkart and amazon aren't going anywhere.

The problem with these kind of religious fundamentalists is that stupidity and ignorance is ingrained into their very being. They don't even make an attempt to learn either from education or from experience. Intelligence, knowledge and wisdom are words they refuse to have anything to do with. They simply just go yapping away whatever nonsense comes to their mouth.
