We all know the GoI is looking to introduce a symbol for rupee, like $ for dollars, and they ran a public contest till 15th of this month for the same. (Which has been discussed here earlier).

Now, I want ya'll to show us your designs if you made any.

How many of you were able to submit your design?

ToI have their own set of designs, which can be viewed here:

The Times of India: Rupee as International Currency Symbols | Vote for the right symbol for the Rupee

Among them, I like these:

I like the symbol which also looks like the hindi alphaber 'r'. Easy to draw, distinctive, and Indian as well.

+1 simple, elegant, and not trying to imitate the dollar, euro or pound

yes it needs to be simple... less curvy, something which even children can write easily...it shud be somethin one can write fast...coz this is sumthin which will be used daily...in banks too...n people wont like to write something which takes some patience..

We used to write "I'll pay you Rs. 40.00"

Americans write "I'll pay you $ 40.00"

But how will we now write the new symbol with Keyboard??

not every currency has a key board key (example Euro)
once approved the symbol can be added to standard symbol bank and can be used by Insert>>symbol

one of the core requirements stated by DoF is that the symbol should be available on the standard keyboard[ 'The symbol should be applicable to standard keyboard. The symbol has to be

in the Indian National Language Script or a visual representation.']. However , someone who can thing of something so dumb as to introduce a new symbol can readily discard that requirement.
