dudes i had posted this before in a wrong section so now i am fitting the peg hole properly the thing is my used my p3 laptop fujitsu 6537 as a guinea pig for his overclock experiment well he did successfully along with his friend overclocked 500 p3 to aprox 585 mhz and then tried his hand on graphic tweak where he failed utterly my ati mobility rage 8mb card also known as m6 was stressed big time as he applied n no. of modded drivers from different forums and for brief period of time even suceeded in overclocking it and well u cud see the difference in nfs 7 but after the onslaught continued for about 7 hours in a row the impish card broke down under pressure my lappy had become as hot as
garma garam pakoras just outta microwave , then the problem started after it suddenly closed itself and rebooted, then he called me up, and i could see all artefacts and massive screen distortion and garbling start from my bios screen, i have used an external monitor to see if my lcd is faulty or not but it passed the test and also tried out the static test as told to me by freaky , but no sign of recovery and even opened up and switched the rams and cleaned them and tried no use same problem but recently in os tried installing and reinstalling the gpu and enabling and disabling , and to my suprise the massive garbling was cut down to the half but still has lot of artefacts and dsiclouration and mild jitter and flicker, i feel if i flash my ati mobility card bios and then apply a fresh 1 the problem might be solved or sud i try reinstalling windows xp (i know thats a stupid idea but i am desperate and cant think of anything else) otherwise all the functions i the laptop r running smoothly including the crystal clear sound which i enjoy on it , so dudes plzzzzzzz
help me out and i owe u 1 for this

Most probably the onboard 8 mb video ram chip is the culprit.
ps: ur laptop has a distinct and seperate ati rage gfx card ??

I thought the gpu and its associated circuits were built-in on the one and the same pcb in the laptop.
(2) ps: and forget about "substantially" o/cing a laptop. The "heat" would not allow it. unless offcourse if you invest thousands of rupees and mod the laptop by adding heatpipes based cooling solutions.;) good airflow is a big drawback in the laptop for obvious reasons.

so deejay what sud i do can i change the ram chip or sud i just flash my ati bios if it is posible

First try flashing the bios
if that solves the problem then good for you.

if it does not then get the 8mb video ram changed. it does not cost much but the labour / repair (desoldering / soldering) cost will be relatively high since opening the laptop and getting access to the pcb is a very time consuming affair.

from where can i get the bios and is it similar to flashing our mobo bios procedure wise as we do on award utility i will prefer win dows based ;) gui flash if any of u guys know about it

Deejay a company will definitely not support fried parts out of warranty. And he cannot mention overclocking anyways..

err... aces170, it is for the bios file and not for any warranty claims.

Well Deejay, they will not support anything outside warranty atleast HP and Compaq does that even if you ask them for a link for drivers they shoot back a mail saying the product is not supported.

dudes now i am badly stuck thinking of giving it some laptop repairer do u know of any good laptop repairers who dont charge a bomb or sud i stick with the company as dont even know if the company has any service centers out here in mumbai guys have u got any info about this plzzzzzzzz lemme know

well aces170 the fujitsu site has a good support & download section. a few months ago i had downloaded some files for an ancient p2 laptop. a new bios for the vicky's p3 laptop (system bios) should be there along with the contact info of their service centre here in India. the downloaded bios file will have full instructions on flashing as well as the "phlashing" programe.
but if the query poster is not keen to get help what can be done ....????
