I need a free software that can convert my videos to dvd/vcd format so that my DVD player can read it. and there shoudnt be any watermark or advertisement on the converted video. If anyone knows about it please do help me out here.
 
I would recommend ConvertX2DVD .Its a commercial-ware the free version has a watermark feature i think . But its worth the cost . Its the best DVD authoring software i have used (i have tried others like Nero Vision , Sony DVD studio etc etc) .

The following are its standout features

PS : didnt notice the 'freeware' requirement . anyways if you are not happy with freewares you should get CX2D
 
Op try to burn .avi files in xvid codec that is easily read by latest dvd players. u will greatly reduce vid quality and go bonkers converting vid format rofl! Even better... connect ur TV with ur PC.
 
Thanks for the help guys, so I can conclude that I cannot find a s/w for this purpose for free (ad-free). Let me try what rockfella said and yeah the best option is to directly hook up my pc with a TV.
