Putting an end to his 23 year old one-day career, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar announced retirement from the 50-over format.

The Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) released Sachin's statement on Sunday morning

"I have decided to retire from the One Day format of the game. I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team," Tendulkar said in his statement to the BCCI Chief N Srinivasan.

"The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest. I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years," he added.

And we are on 49 centuries.. kinda stranded, but bought it on himself by picking and choosing.

Great career nonetheless. Salute to the master.

Now that the God has retired, does that make ODIs an atheist? :p

I still remember watching Sachin bat when I was young, there was always hope when he was at the crease.

He is so good at age of 39, didn't even see difference between him and a young player. It is making me think, why did he retire before the Ind-Pak series. Though we can see him in IPL and Test.

Truth is tat I m crying now. I never thought tat my most favourite player Sachin will be retire without farewell on field n so much insult. :(

God please fcuk all those selectors :(

There has always been hope when he is at the crease but the fact is that that hope rarely substantiated..

I have always thought of him as a great batsman but never as a match winner..

Good. but i think he should have retired from all forms of cricket formats and just play in ipl or become a commentator like Saurav. Nowdays he hardly takes runs or bowl's to take wickets. I did notice that he fielded a lot better than the newer fatty guys who run like they're being pushed by someone invisible behind them.

Someone who knew his job very well & being good at it.

Only disappointment is that he should have retired on the stadium :(

Maybe he had his reasons, Cricket will never be like before, his position can never be filled.

I always felt that he should have continued playing only TESTS since a long time. But looking at his recent performance in Tests, he would not be able to carry on much longer. Even though, we do not have a young player decent enough to replace him in Tests. If only the younger lot were not spoiled by IPL money..

Long live the "God". +1 -- This should have been done when we won the world cup; nevertheless right decision. In the recent years, nothing worked out for him except the fielding, he is still better than Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Sehwag on field.
