What is the timer for when the option to edit disappears? Is it also really necessary? Also noticed this timer seems to differ between browsers. Very small sample size, but its something I've noticed between Firefox and Edge, for instance.

I understand why the option has to be removed - at least I'm assuming the reason is to stop frauds from abusing it or changing information drastically later.

Say I want to add or remove a relevant item from a group sale thread- it might make sense to keep it all consolidated.

Maybe this can be rectified by allowing future editing by keeping some kind of edited information history. I don't know how it works, talking like a noob here.

Or might this be completely unnecessary?

Makes no sense that you cannot edit the title and the cost while the thread is active. I can understand preserving details for a kind of audit if anything goes wrong, but freezing everything makes no sense. But then, a lot of things don't make sense over here.

There are inherent limitations of the forum software that we use and not everything can be made configurable according to everyone's wishes. So we have to operate within the confines of that and also keep in mind that some restrictions are there to preserve the content and avoid abuse. This behaviour hasn't changed since the forum started. Even if we want to, its not straightforward. Would like to maintain and display history of changes to sale thread before we allow unlimited editing.

Sarcasm is good, it sounds funny and witty in our heads. If you wish something to change you can table the lot of things that don't make sense. Though not everything can be agreed to and we would tell you why we cannot agree to specific points.
