Hi everybody, i am thinking of a hdd update. I will got 500gb:) and not more as i am low on budget. WD is my favourite. Which is better green or blue. And is it true that green hdd runs @ 5400 rpm.

Also can anyone tell me about the warrenty provided by wd.

Thanks in advance.;)

yes green run at 5400rpm and blue run at 7200rpm....if u are going to use it as a dump drive...(movies and songs etc)go with green that will save u power else go with blue

^^you are sure aren't you. Basically i want to use the hdd as os drive as a primary drive. What should i opt for.

Greens esp. the higher capacity ones have been failing a lot. Go for the WD blue(better after sales service) or the Seagate 7200.12 (Faster)

What abt the cache memory and warrenty of wd blue 500gb

What is the current price of WD blue 500bg HDD

Instead of going for 500gb better stretch your budget by 1.3k and get a 1 TB seagate . IMO thats VFM... I hear painful stories of WD nowadays. So better stay away from that...

Since you are on a low budget and prefer WD, go for the Cavier Blue series, should retail for around 2.1K.

If you can overlook your preference, give the Seagate 7200.12 500GB a shot, you wont be disappointed with it as you intend to use it as a OS drive.

Ok m8s can anyone give me the read/write speed on a 500gb wd green hdd, as many of u owe it.:)

Many of u have wd drive (green/blue/black).
Plz help me my post hd tune benchmark read/write speeds.
Thanks:)

Thanks everybody for your help, yesterday i got myself a new WD 500 GB blue. The HDD is a good one and read/write speed is 110 Mbps (approx, checked with HD tune), my friend bought a another 500 GB WD green:(, the speed is low (about 90 Mbps).

Now i am a proud owner of WD HDD :), previously i had 2 Maxtor.
