Baby steps in the right direction ..

Oh!! It's in USA. Hopefully they would launch in India too. Atleast for their premium segments.
Speaking of iFixit, is it even present in India? I recall they had advt some 10 years ago, but it has totally vanished.

No idea if iFixit is in India. I am reading it more as them consulting to provide the DIY guides (as they usually do) and online support for Samsung rather than being a distributor for Samsung spares. And yes, hoping that this gets extended globally including India.

How does this change anything for us ? Just go to the service centre as usual isn't it. Plenty of them in major metros.

its only for S20, S21 & Tab 7 too

No it does not change anything for you but for those of whom, it did, I would have thought cost and accessibility to repair would be factors. Some reading would not hurt ..

From the article
To start, Galaxy device owners will be able to replace display assemblies, back glass, and charging ports — and return used parts to Samsung for responsible recycling.
Say a part is replaced from a service center, which they never return, it goes back to Samsung for recycling?
