Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy S3 Mini today in Germany which packs a smaller 4 inch display .

The Galaxy S III like its bigger brother ,has same design , runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz UI and comes with Samsung S Voice and Smart Play . It has 4" S-AMOLED display ( pentile matrix )

The internals are not as powerful though . It does not have a quad core processor , instead it is powered by 1GHz Dual-core ST-Ericsson Novathor chipset along with Mali-400 GPU .It comes with 1GB of RAM , 8GB / 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot .

The camera is not 8MP , but only 5MP with LED flash capable of only 720p video , and the front camera is VGA . Connectivity features include HSPDA 14.4Mbps , Wi-Fi a/b/g/n , Bluetooth 4.0 , NFC . It is powered by a 1500mAh battery .

The smaller size has reduced the dimensions of the phone to 121.6 x 63 x 9.9 mm and it weighs 111.5g .

The launch date and price has not been revealed yet , but considering it has lower specs compared to the Galaxy S 2 , it should be cheaper .

If they price this at slightly below 15k then this might be the first awesome mid-range Samsung (Android) phone since the Spica, but knowing Samsung it'll probably be 19k ~ 20k :(

^^ Yep nothing less than 18K for this. And it shouldn't be called SIII mini since it doesnt have a quad core processor! It's the same one found in Xperia P/U/Sola..

its a single core Mali.. as per GSMArena preview-http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-review-829p4.php

Good move by samsung in terms of revenue.
the s3 tag can give this product a huge push commercially and people looking for a mid range handset would find this to be a perfect fit.

As long as the phone is supported with good software updates and priced aggressively, this should sell well.

1Ghz processor :O They could have used 1.2 or 1.5GHz processor instead and give pricing like 20-22k.. That would have been GNex killer :D

I read it somewhere online that they were pricing it at somewhere above 24k . In the SII range . Anyone can correct me if I am wrong please .

Hmm.. disappointed with this - more of marketing gimmicks than real substance to this phone. Of course the price would determine how successful it will be.

Samsung is the new Apple! May be not yet - if this sells well for price more than 15K, it well could be.

Now they diluted the Galaxy which is known for the high end internals. I am sure this will sell like hotcakes, but this is unexpected move from Samsung.
Lets see where they go from here.

will definitely be priced around 25k. S advance is selling around 19-20k. this has slightly better specs than S adv in terms of RAM and comes with jellybean out of the box.

That's quite unlikely considering that their flagship phone falls short on performance:p

Could you be more wrong? Here Read what i wrote on another thread(and ignore the irrelevant parts) :

first, the a6 is a complete design by apple so its neither a15 or a9.another thing-even a full a15 dual core can't beat a a full a9 quad core(in multithreaded apps that is).now, yeah in the benches floating on the internet the a6 does beat the gs3 or any SoC that currently exists, but why?because people don't realize that they are comparing devices with 2 DIFFERENT OSE'S running, ios and android(the difference between these ose's nullifies ANY DIRECT COMPARISON).and by the way-the krait dual cores which resemble a15 can't beat any current quad cores so that should give you some semblance.and about the gpu?it loses to adreno 320 and the gpu of gs3,at least on the spec sheets.the benches dont mean much because of the aforementioned reason so apparently you have been living under a rock.also when the the next gen mobiles release with full A-15 quad cores next year ,apple is going to be in a stiff position, especially if its design's IPC is not more than ARM's A-15.and the price at which apple will sell these i5's will.....well you get the idea.also how could you actually believe those figures,in electronics miracles hardly happen.comparing those figures is like comparing ios figures vs windows figures, just think how the original ipad can still work with ios6 with only 256 MB ram!!!can android tablets run like the ipad with only 256 mb ram??in your dreams,so you get the idea.start thinking more.samsung, qualcomm and Texas instruments aren't kidding themselves there and are doing great work.don't rant before you understand something.apple compares it's phones with previous gen of it's phone so they can highlight the improvements,it doesn't compare it to other android phones of it's gen because it simply doesn't win.also don't forget it's slightly lower screen res than gs3.Also according to some benches out there the gpu in 4s takes a dump on the oced mali in gs3,whadya say to that?its jargon is what it is.also for something thats gonna cost between 40k-50k a 4 inch screen and no nfc are real downers.also apple said i5's standby time was 225 hours but ars technica found it to only be 100 hours!!,thats rotten.
