Samsung announced first smartphone running Windows Phone 8 OS : Ativ S at Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin back in August.
It is expected to launch on October 29th when Microsoft launches its Windows Phone 8 OS , but the phone has appeared on two major online retailers - Ezoneonline and Infibeam which have listed it on their websites.
Ezoneonline , which is Future Group's ecommerce portal has listed the Ativ S, but it is shown as 'Out Of Stock' . Infibeam has also listed the smartphone as 'Coming soon. Both stores have not mentioned the price.
Looking at the listings ,it seems that the phone could be heading soon toIndia.

Display
The Ativ S is flagship Windows 8 smartphone from Samsung and features a large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution . It also has latest Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection on top.
Processor
The Ativ S has same processor as one found on the Galaxy S III. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz Dual-Core processor along with Adreno 225 GPU .
Other flagship Windows 8 smartphones like HTC 8X and Lumia 920 also use same processor.The processor is pretty quick and should be able to run Windows Phone 8 smooth like butter!
Memory
The Ativ S packs 1GB of RAM and comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, It has a microSD expansion slot as well which accepts memory cards upto 32GB. The presense of microSD expansion slot is a plus for the Ativ S, since other Windows 8 flagship phones like Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC 8X doesn't have it.
Camera
It packs 8 Megapixel shooter on the back with Autofocus and LED flash. The camera is capable of 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. There is front 1.9MP camera as well for video calling.
Connectivity , Battery & Size
The connectivity department also packs decent features including Dual band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 , HSDPA with 42Mbps, A-GPS support and GLONASS and FM Radio. There is NFC connectivity also.
The phone is powered by 2300mAh battery, which is higher compared to 2000mAh battery of the Lumia 920 or 1800mAh battery of the HTX 8X. But actual battery life may vary as Lumia 920 and HTX 8X both have smaller displays than the Ativ S.
The Ativ S is 8.7mm thin and weighs 135gm .
