hi i m in a mess now that i wanted to upgrade the firmware of my samsung CD-RW (SW-252) and the original firmware version was "R802"

then i upgraded it version "R803"
after that "R804"

after upgrading it to version "R804" i noticed the read speed of the drive is only
8x (checked it with nero's info tool) first it was 40x.

so again i flashed the firmware to version "R308" the flashing went succesful but after the computer restarted the drives led didnt even bilk nor the drive gets detected in bios nor does it do tray in and out its completly dead.

plz if anyone can help?? me

try to flash it again, but using dos mode, see if works.

also give more info, on flash tool used.
the tool flash came with the firmware its self something called (SFDNWIN)
u can get it here

http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/LiveU...ARCH&SearchWord=SW-252F&image1.x=0&image1.y=0

download any version after R802

and one more thing the bios does not detect the drive at all so how can i flash it again. and if it possible to flash it through DOS then tell me which tools to use.

if its under warranty give it to the service centre and don't tell them that u have tried flashing the drive ...... i think this will work

^^ you have to flash using a boot floopy, ok go to this post - gives all the details & links on how to flash your samsung using SFDNDOS 2.19.1.

be patient, & try reading all the info before you attempt to flash again.

buddy how can i flash my drive when it dosent get detected in bios.
can anyone plz give me the service center number or address of samsung in mumbai

did you even try booting using the floppy disk, the thing is the floppy disk would load generic drivers for your cd, so sometimes you just might see it, & then you can flash it.

ok, bad luck there mate, as for service center, this is from samsung india :

programs like mtkflash can be used to flash drives not detected in bios.. i used it last time with my samsung dvd rom when i flashed it with the wrong bios.. was a hair raising experience but it worked.

have a look at the page dipdude posted and also see this similar page

http://dhc014.rpc1.org/howto.htm

would recommend this only as a last resort.. try seeing if samsung will service the drive before experimenting with these.

try contacting some of these ppl regarding service

Mumbai - Continental Computers – (022) 23841999
Mumbai - Shanti Impex – (022) 25107474
Mumbai - Creative Computers - (022) 23863300
Mumbai - Venus Infosys - (022) 56344144

got this off the samsung site for dealers in mumbai. they might be able to help you out regarding servicing as well

ya buddy i tried it already .its giving me error that "no drive found" during the flashing process. so i think there is a much bigger problem cause the drive is completely dead because the eject button (the drive tray dosent come out)also dosent work nor does the power LED blinks
