Samsung Galaxy Gear has not even launched yet and its successor Galaxy Gear 2 is rumored to be in development already which could be announced as soon as January 2014.
The news comes from a Korean source Daum.net which says that the Galaxy Gear 2 can be unveiled at CES or MWC 2014.
The Galaxy Gear fell short of expectations with its high price ( $300 ) and lack of compatibility with other devices. It is compatible with only Samsung devices running Android 4.3 ( Note 3 and new Note 10.1 ).
If the rumor is true, Samsung has tried to check market reaction by launching its first smart watch could be planning to bring improved version soon. We cannot be sure about it yet until something more concrete comes up about the successor.
I feel that Samsung really needs to make it cheaper and compatible with other brands if it wants more sales. Spending 300$ on a just a companion device which doesn't even work with other brands ( and most phones of Samsung itself ) and looks ugly doesn't make much sense.
