Saw this while browsing gsmarena ..

We've seen Samsung Corby phones in a variety of shapes and sizes, but now rumor has it that a new member of the group - the Samsung I5500 Corby - will run Android and become the first Corby to earn a smartphone degree.

We don't know much about this new Corby, except that it recently got a Wi-Fi certification for the b/g/n protocols. It received FCC certification as well, so we're looking at 3G, Bluetooth and GPS for the Samsung I5500. The camera resolution is unknown, but it probably won't be more than 3MP.

The rumors add Android 2.1 Eclair and Corby branding to the mix and an expected price of 200 euro putting it at the low end of the price range for an Android phone.
We don't have a photo of the Samsung I5500 Corby yet - the photo on the left is a quick mockup. In-the-wild photos can't be far behind though.

so now even corby getting android  .. should be cheap around 8-9k i guess ;)

looks very much like it. Question is how smooth can Android run on a low-mid range device. or is this going to be a midrange Corby with smarphone h/w?

it wont be cheap with wifi, GPS and 3G

it may be a model from corby series but that does not necessarily mean it would have system specs equivalent to the original corby.

Way to go Samsung. Not may people seem to realize that Samsung is at the pinnacle of mobile phone technology. Almost every smart phone released these days contains at least one piece of hardware that is made by Samsung. Their phones have the best hardware and decent prices for the same.

Seen a lot of iPhone fanboi's on gsmarena and some other places talking trash about Samsung. What they don't realize is that even iPhone is no exception in that some of its major hardware is made by Samsung.

If they can put a 800MHz processor in a 12k phone like Spica. Why not a 550~600MHz one in a 10k one. It may not be fast, but it should be able to handle Andriod decently enough. On the other hand they may even opt to make a midrange corby at 12~14k.

LOL don't compare corby with htc wildfire , corby phones are kinda crap with small screens., also htc sense ui is much better . corby will have slower processor and ram also probably...
