Well I am more leaning towards the Samsung B750 bcoz of its features........ but many ppl say the Bravia 3 engine is better...... so confused......

Speaking for the Samsung B750........
200MHz Motion Plus
Media 2.0
DLNA(Ethernet port):hap2:
USB 2.0(Plays DivX/Xvid/x264/mkv etc):hap2:
Cost: Rs.1,10,000

Speaking for Sony W550
Bravia 3 Engine:ohyeah:
USB 2.0(Plays MP3/Jpeg)
Cost: Rs.1,13,000

Thts why leaning towards Samsung...... cause I hav loads of downloaded HD content(mkv files) which will play on Samsung through the LAN port or USB.....

But Sony seems to play SD content better........

LCD TV usage will be for:
Cable TV through set-top-box(CAS)
Downloaded HD content(including full HD movies of 8GB each)
Downloaded DivX content
18 feet viewing distance(is 40" enuf or is it more for this distance)

No console gaming or gaming of any sort......

Pls help me make a choice soon....... as I will be taking any one of them coming weekend.....

well at ur distance get atleast a 46inch lcd or a 50inch plasma.
at ur distance a 40inch 200hz lcd is a waste since even at a close distance most can't actualy notice the difference b/w 100hz and 200hz,unless u start hunting for the advantages.again at ur distance u can't even differentiate b/w SD and HD on 40inch screen.
so rather get a 46B650 ,there is no 46W550A in india, probably available in the grey market.
u can also go for a 50inch plasma like the samsung PS50B550A i.e if u like the images of a plasma.

Thx for the reply.......

Well........ my situation right now is tht I hav 21" Sony TV which I hav used for 23yrs(Sony does hav gr88 reliability) at the same distance........ so to go frm 21" to 40" is a big leap for me.......

Then is the cost...... my budget is 1.10lakh....... so in tht it seems like I am restricted to 40".....

Plus I am not looking at anything other than Samsung & Sony LCD's.........

Samsung 5 series might get me a 46" LCD TV but it would not hav any media 2.0 ..... which is a priority for me

So my discussion is limited to the 2 models tht I hav mentioned........ so should I go for Samsung cause of its features or go with Sony for its Bravia engine??????

well i know its a huge leap in size from 21inch(actual size 20inch)to 40inch but where u sitting at 18feet away from a 21inch tv.

well regarding features of samsung vs performance of sony its entirely upto.u can always add media playback capability by a HTPC,WD HD player etc

well between the two models u can go for the sony if u can probably by it in the grey market, where it is atleast cheaper by 20k compared to the showroom price.but if in the showroom the samsung is better VFM,besides at 18 feet u won't even notice the edge of BE3 SD performance.

To be honest 18feet is not tht large distance........ frm wht I saw in showrooms... the 40" LCD's r really massive........ atleast for me they look really massive since am used to my 21" TV for the last 2 decades:D

I thought 32" or 37" will be enuf..... but as u mentioned 46" or 50"....... I think I should not go below 40"......

Was looking at the new Samsung LED TV's too but found tht they were actually LCD's with only side LED....... so decided to stick with LCD's itself......

Thx for ur help adder:hap2:........ it seems I'll go with Samsung B750.......

well u can go for a samsung 46B650 it has the same media playback capabilities of B750 costs around 95k or less, the B750 extra motion resolution cannot be spotted at ur viewing distance.

bought the Samsung LED UA40B7000 TV:hap2:........ in the end my choice didnt matter........ daddy made the decision on his own:ohyeah:.......

got a free 22" Samsung 4 Series LCD TV with it.......

the Samsung guy installed the free LCD........ but no one has come to install the LED yet(2 days went)......:@:@:@:huh:

getting desperate to start using the LED which is still sitting in the box........ feel like I should install it myself but cant so waiting....... will report its performance as soon as its installed......

thx for all ur help ADDER:cool2:

^^^

Like I said before....... the LED has been delivered on Friday...... but the stupid Samsung personal:@ isnt here yet to install/demonstrate it......

And it was daddy's choice not mine...... I wouldnt go for sth so costly or new tech....... but dad loved it so we got it........

Got myself a 10m long LAN cable for DLNA feature of the LED....... downloaded PC Share Manager 2.1 as well as firmware update of the LED model....... all locked & ready.......

Will post performance as soon as installed......

@babhishek

Got it frm CROMA...... cost Rs.1.24 lac....... got 2yrs extended warranty too....... plus free 22" Series 4 LCD

Samsung LED TV UA40B7000

Looks/Design: 10/10

u hav seen it already..... so wont discuss tht

Performance:

It takes 3sec to start & 2sec to turnoff
CableTV as expected is slightly pixelated
Contrast is crisp & way better than anything I hav ever seen
The Blacks r indeed very black on this TV...... and they remain black & not go blue like in some LCD's
700MB DVDRIP's look gr888 but
720p mkv files look lot lot better
1080p mkv looks absolutely amazing... I wish every content was like this

Media 2.0

Almost every video file I played on it worked:clap:.....
USB pendrives as well as 500GB Maxtor USB HDD was detected by the TV
DLNA LAN worked without much configuration
But video files over 4GB wont play thru the LAN:no:...... even though 4/8GB files worked thru the USB very well
One thing I noticed tht video files with DTS audio codec didnt play sound even though the video ran smoothly

Conclusion

There is absolutely nothing to not like abt this TV........ but after 2 hrs of fidgeting with it........ got bored and came back to my PC..... after all its just a TV...... and so it can do only limited stuff than the PC;)

A shopkeeper in pimpri (Pune) quoted 85k for Samsung LED UA40B6000 TV (W/O 22" free LCD) , which was on sell for 1.1L in Croma (with 22" free LCD) , and I dont think tht 22" LCD is worth 25k Rs !!!

How come this much difference is thr in pricing then??

the 22inch samsung lcd tvs start at around 14k,again these LED lcds launched by samsung and also the LED lcd of sony ZX1 have no performance benefits, they only manage to make the tv thinner and reduction in power consumption.
