I got Samsung Laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled and I am going to install Ubuntu on it. Before that I need to take backup of recovery partition. I had HP laptop before with Windows vista installed and I created backup on 2 DVD. These two DVDs were not working after 2 years. Hence Now I am thinking to take backup on pen drive, however I am not sure whether it will be right decision to take backup on Pen drive.
Is it ok if I do this also I need help to choose correct size of pen drive, can I take multiple backup of recovery partition. Please guide me.

its possible, but the space taken would require a 16/32/64 GB pen drive at the very least, depending on size of recovery partition. Mine is a Sony VAIO. Its about 25GB.

Multiple backups possible, but looking at the space required, its not small. FThat means for multiple recoveries you need multiple drives, which will add up the costs.

the samsung backup i took of my win 7 was around 12 gb which i took on a usb 500gb drive
but then i formatted the whole hdd and reinstalled the windows with the serial key that came with my laptop ....
once u have the drivers downloaded and saved ... do you really wanna restore from recovery or reinstall afresh .....
