Yes it charges but the phone discharges faster (when playing hd videos)

These came with my Samsung Infuse cellphone are are 100% original ............ all PM's replied .........

you can charge the cellphone while the MHL is connected , MHL adaptor has extra port for charging ...... you can charge simultaneously ...........
