Greetings Peeps,

Need some advice\info on Samsung NC-10 netbook, planing give it as gift to my wife on her birthday. If anyone here owns the nc-10 it will be gr8 to hear from them. Apart from the thickness and the small touch pad i kind of was impressed with the build quality and the rave reviews its got.

This model seems to have been revised recently, it now comes in matte finish with the same config as its predecessor but has slimmer look and is priced at Rs.23.4k. i have an offer on the glossy one the first edition at 21.7k. Am not worried about finger print smudges or the thickness does it make sense to pay extra and go for the matte finish slim ver or should i go with the glossy edition and save the extra cash to buy a external dvd drive later

I also checked out the following alternatives :
Aspire One d150 : Price is lucrative , but heard reports on the net about a feeble scree and that its tend to crack suddenly and no warranty repair from Acer for this.

Aspire One d250 : : I found this as a very interesting option and even got a good price for this 21k net incl taxes but am again worried about the screen issue, Acer build quality is questionable at least in the laptops i have used, one exception here is the ferrari series though.
Lenovo S10 : : Its a netbook thts abt it :) the build quality seems to be good.

HP mini : : these guys need to seriously look at pricing their products competitively, apart form the looks and the weight i didnt see anything worth mentioning in them

ASUS 1000HE : : Contrary to what others say i was not happy with the build quality, its seems too plasticky and after sales is tough is what i heard.
BTW am based in Bangalore :ohyeah:

Maybe you should look at the new units by Dell, esp. if warranty and support are a concern

Picked up an NC 10 for 21.8k net here in B'lore from brigade road. you can get it for even lesser price with some freebies thrown in, if u can haggle a bit from other locations in B'lore like SP Road, Marathahalli etc... I chose to stick on to this chap from whom i mainly source my stuff as he is dependable.

Looks like there can be servicing issues for Asus and Acer due to limited number pf service centers and personnel. The dealer was saying for any major issues with Acer they have to call up Delhi for advice as their only corporate office which deals with such issues is located in Delhi.

Asus on the other hand you are better off as long as you get a good hardware in your hands which is in their favour but god forbid if it needs some kinda servicing or repair.

Same is the case with Samsung, limited number of service centers, but the dealer has given his word on the service aspect as lower number of issues were reported on the sammy compared to others.

So far i seem to like its performance, build quality etc... the previous contender was Acer d250 but i was put off by the screen breaking issues that the d150 had due to heat or something else which Acer fails to admit and charges for repair. I just hope the sammy lives up to my expectations.... \/

can you please give details of your NC10. where from did you buy it, address, number?
