Even at maximum brightness and contrast the display on my monitor (Samsung Samtron 55V) is very dark.
I cant find a driver for my monitor for Windows XP. XP automatically installs the driver for Syncmaster 550V while I have tried installing the drivers for Samtron 55V for Windows 98 and 2000. But the image quality doesn't improve with any of them.

Is it a software issue or a hardware one?

OS : Windows XP
Monitor : Samsung Samtron 55V
Onboard VGA : Intel 82810E Graphics Controller

Current Settings:
---------------
Driver Installed : Samtron 55V for Windows 98 9Not digitally signed by Microsoft)
Resolution : 800x600 pixels
Color Quality : High (24 bit)
Screen refresh rate : 85 Hz

Use the button on your Monitor to bring up the On-Screen Menu :

Go to Advanced -> Video Input Level -> make sure its 0.7V

(I hope the menu order matches, if it doesnt.. browse around your menu to search for a video input level setting)

The monitor doen't have an onscreen menu.

Given below is a link to the monitor on the Samtron site.

SAMTRON

Is there any way else I can access 'video input level setting'?

i faced the SAME issue 1 month back......its some failure inside....got it repaired for 450 bux......same monitor same issue so i know.....its some weird problem inside...........now its perfect as before :)

Are u from Mumbai? If so could you please tell me where you got it repaired from and what was fault that the tech said it was with the monitor? Maybe I could check out the Samsung service centers.

Checked the link, dont those buttons on the front panel of your monitor bring up a menu? :S

Anyway as hanzy says its a known issue with the same model, it probably would be as he says :)
