Anyone know anything about this laptop ? Any opinions ?

BTW, The DDR2 RAM is spec'ed to be running at 400Mhz (even on the Samsung website) ! Is that a typo? Or does PC2-3200 mem really exist?

Why wud you go for this?

There is a 1.6 Toshiba for much less, and toshiba is way better than samsung.

And for that price u can get some uber cool acers.

well Samsung is sleek and sexy and ligh
Acer is cheap, feature packed and a workhorse
Toshiba is better than both(Sony Vaio's are probably the best lappies, ibm(lenovo) coming in second and toshiba third)

And yeah tht is not a typo bout ram it is ddr2
And u have a 3yr warranty toshiba, acer both give one yr warrnty
And plz mention wht do u intend to do wid dis laptop only then ur query can be solved

And also the price is surely wrong check out the new prices man

The price is quoted correctly, Samsung and LG charge a lot...

Acer is fine.. I have one and trust me it is better than IBM. My friend has both (IBM and Acer) and he spits at the IBM nowadays (or he used to - I think the laptops have gone with his pop to delhi). I have used toshiba too and it is excellent build quality.

Samsung scares me - their products (excluding monitors) are always just a shade under very good.

Well I had an IBM and was fully satisfied with it
Its very rugged and has a gud keyboard and the pointing devices are gud too
Acer is a gud brand but my dealer refuses to sell it neone coz he's had lots of trouble wid ppl complaining bout their acer lappies earlier and acer's service isn't very gud mind u

And also the high price is probably becoz of the 3yr warrnty
Ask toshiba for an xtended 2yr warranty and they will charge u rnd 12-18k

^ Well, the laptop isnt for me like I mentioned, asking on behalf of someone else - i'm guessing its for official use. He was quoted this config, and just asked for my opinion.

I'm aware Samsungs arent too well-known in the lappy market. Have just heard that their Xnote series are pretty thin and light (i'm guessing the thin and light part is what adds the premium to its price), but haven't seen any positive/negative reviews about them, so felt no need to diss them without an informed opinion. Perhaps if someone has personal experience with them ? :)

From what i've heard from Superczar, the Acers seem pretty flimsy (the model he looked at apparently caved in at the hand-rest area below the keypad !

In addition to that, Freaky mentioned that Toshiba's service/sales network is outsourced to HCL and isn't that good

Now KK mentions the IBMs aren't great either.

At this rate, we end up with all laptop brands being useless :P
