Samsung has launched Samsung Z1 (Z130H), the company’s first budget Tizen OS smartphone in India, as expected. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Tizen OS 2.3. It has a 3.1-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and 3G connectivity.

Good Luck Selling Even 100 Pieces in India.

This device is decent as a developer tool - it runs linux with a flavor of x11 with EFL libraries. Any linux application simply needs a recompile for armv7 and will run on this.

May not be the best idea for end users though as i'm sure native app support will be limited but as a hacker tool, I'd like to have one. Also it runs android apps by sideloading.

They will. There are plenty of people (mostly uncle types) still buying Samsung.
Is that because Samsung is a Big Brand, which boasts a large no of service centers? I knew uncles who bought galaxy devices which they could get it for EMI, Even my dad too.

What the hell is Spreadtrum SOC?

Core 2 launched few months back had the same SOC, Even i have no clue.

.
They are the same guys who swore by Nokia when it was a sinking ship.

Seems impressively smooth. The fact that there is no java layer and apps are compiled seems to be helping the device.

Chinese, closed source, whatever OS it arrives with is the only one you will get.

A while back the idea was the low end was going to get better and the midrange would suffer. In hindsight this was wrong. companies will rather sacrifice the low end to protect the midrange.

grand prime vs grand 2
core 2 vs original core

htc's & nokia efforts have a similar trend as well.

How will they do against indian rebrands :)
