So I had assembled the new system yesterday and while trying to make a bootable pen drive for Win 7 using cmd (and WinToFlash as well!), turns out that the system was throwing a screen asking me to locate some driver.

This was the error:

A quick Google search gave me several results - the ISO could be bad or corrupted, hardware issues and so forth.

I had a couple of more .ISO files so decided to make a bootable of those and the same error shows up.

Finally after several hours of tinkering, I decided to make the bootable drive out of the 500 GB external drive and it worked smoothly without issues, which led me to conclude the pen drive is crapping out on me.

Any other means to find out if the Cruzer Blade is defective?

TIA!

Same happened with me when i tried to make a USB bootable Windows7 as well as Ubuntu Server drive on Cruzer Blade, and had to try many times. It works smoothly all the times on my Corsair Voyager GT, but it works only 2/10 times with cruzer blade. Cruzer blade is one of the slowest and unreliable thumb drive in market, and yet so cheap too. Voyager GT took only 1/3 the time for creating the disk via cmd.

Also i think you have created the disk using the elevated mode/run as administrator in cmd.

Yep as the administrator in cmd. I am betting this on the drive since I used to make bootable drives out of several other pen drives and this is the first time, something like this had happened.

Yup even i got similar error when trying to get it done. Cruzer blades are terribly slow. on 8gb drive it takes eons to copy a movie. What would be scenario on 16gb drive :S.

The sandisk cruzer blades are the slowest pen drives available in the market, better get the strontium pen drives from letsbuy using 250 off coupon.

My 4GB and 8Gb cruzer blade gives about 3~4MBps write and 6~7MBps read speeds while the Voyager and Voyager Gt gives 16~18MBps write and 28~32Mbps read speeds. Also cruzer blade's plastic USb connector tends to wear out and become thinner as we use it, and it ll break eventually. Terrible product from Sandisk. Also data corruption rate is too high even to store/transfer movies.

No idea about the sandisk one, but the verbatim one that i bought from letsbuy can't boot after making it bootable using YUMI :( It just freeze, and i have to restart my system
