I have waited for Bulldozer but results disappointed us all so i would like to have mobo+proccy in the budget of 10K with support for ivy bridge CPU's
basically i am looking for proccy which should perform equal to unlocked 555BE[4 cores]

will upgrade to 22nm proccies when they comes to scene

Multipurpose Gaming Rig , slight video ripping [ripping games videos recorded through fraps] and general stuffs

1980x1080

Q: Are you looking to overclock?
No

Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
Windows 7 64 bit

a core i3 21xx + a MSI or Gigabyte board will come for ~ 10k. It will perform much better than your unlocked 550BE. But if you want ivy bridge support, you will have to spend more than your total budget on the mobo itself.

^^ not true... any H61, H67, P67 or Z68 chipset motherboard would support IB processors OOTB...

@Op
Within your budget like dev mentioned you can buy i3 2100 + H67 mobo combo only... But for the Graphic Card you have i would suggest you to go with i5 2400 + Intel DH67BL combo... There is another thing which you can do, you can buy i5 2400 + H61 mobo combo by slightly increasing your budget if you dont want features like Sata3, USB3 and four rams slots... You can also do one thing... Sell your current CPU + Mobo combo which would be able to fetch around 5 to 6k and buy i5 CPU + H67 mobo combo

^is that so? Then its great :). I was under the impression that only selected boards will support ivy bridge & pcie 3 with a bios update. for e.g the asus p8z68-pro/v-pro or the msi z68-gd80- g3 or gigabyte z68-ud4 etc

actually i was hell bend on upgrading to BD but after its dismal show dropped the idea but suddenly my sister need an upgrade so i will quietly transfer my AM3 mobo + 555BE to her system and upgrade my main rig

now i have around 7k inhand so added 3k to make it 10

didnt wanted to shift to intel as they launch many products toooooo quickly

anyways was thinking to get something a mobo to hold for atleast 2yrs. or so

upgrading to AM3+ mobo and getting 955 or similar was on the cards but then we have piledriver launching next yr. which will use new socket  suddenly saw a thread that asus have confirm few mobo's to be compatible with ivy bridge after BIOS upgrade

actually i am confused now upgrading to i3 2100 will give me same performance as 555BE and spending 3k for no gain dont look a smart choice

i am not shy to spend when there is VFM gain in performance but spending without any gain dont look good

please help i am too confuse to make a decision right [i think i need a break .... a very close friend got married yesterday and last night i didnt slept properly ... i think i need a sleep now]

yes i too had same impression

in all honesty for lower budgets AMD is still the way to go.. a 955BE with a 880GM mobo will keep you until a new revision of BD is released.. then upgrade to the better BD.. Stick to AMD if your budget is <10k.. 2100+h67 is beaten by the 955+ 880gm combo

+1

and you can get cheap 880gm mobo with sata 3 and usb features and with Am3+ socket. i3 OC better but as youve mentioned no OS, a 955BE for 5.6k makes more sense.

ok so i should stick with AMD for now and wait for proper BD release

how much performance gain can i get jumping from unlocked 555BE to 955BE

actually i never faced a need to OC so havent given a shot as of now

looks like the same trend will follow

in my window rating my GPU rating is 7.8 and CPU comes as 7.5 so i thing cpu need to go

practically there wont be any performance difference on jumping from Unlocked 555BE to 955BE. But 965BE is the C3 one, and runs a bit cooler, and bit more power efficient and performs better with its extra 100 mhz :)

but jumping to an i3 21xx would be a downgrade from what you are having now, considering performance, but in power consumption its lot lot better and is close to half of the 955BE.

thanks for clearing it out

i should stick with my current setup and look for six core to witness some performance gain

Most of the gigabyte's low end mobos' now seems to support AM3+ on the newer revision(8xx and 9xx chipsets) . All of their older models has been revised and now supports Am3+. But for Asus, from their site it seems only select models support AM3+ with 9xx chipsets.

Go with Gigabyte 880GM USB 3 which i have, its a good board, 125W support, 4 RAM slots w/ support for 1866 RAM. SB is 710 means unlocking, not available with 8 series SB. Only con is bad SATA layout. Also VRMs are not covered with heatsink.

sadly my boad was excluded from the list

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3 - GA-785GMT-USB3 (rev. 1.0)

i am really happy this board and looking forward to upgrade to gigabyte

any specific board with good build and new features ... chipset dont matter much as i will be using my GPU for proper display

^^ A better deal than the AMD set-up, but still I'm of the opinion you should get the --

Core i5 2400 + Intel DH6-BL ~ 14,500/- [plus taxes], if you want decent performance and future-proofing.

By the way no point waiting for a Bulldozer update patch, revised stepping et al for so called performance gains, the problem with the Bulldozer lies in the architecture not in the code.

Step up your budget and grab the Intel i5 line-up and DH67-BL OR wait to save-up for the same.

Hope this helps.

Intel DH6-BL Support only DDR3 1333/1066 MHz DIMMs and i have 4GB 1600MHz already

just in talks for i5 right now if i can get a decent price for proccy alone then will try to lift up the budget and grab a decent mobo

P.S. he is selling i5 + http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8H61M_LE/#specifications

which does not support 1600MHz RAM also not willing to sell proccy alone
