I am planning to buy a new PC with Corei7 2600K CPU. I came to know in February that Intel has recalled Sandybridge CPU. Is it safe to buy now?

My Proposed COnfiguration is given below

Corei7 2600K CPU
Motheboard (Intel) - Will not overclock - Please suggest better models if available?
8 or 12 GB RAM
GTX 560 (MSI or Zotac) - Please suggest which is better?
Cooler Master HAF X Cabinet
External CPU cooler - Not yet decided

Max Budget - 70000-75000
Usage - Programming - Testing Softwares

an z68 motherboard will be safe for this cpu...

the cou was never recalled;only the chispet was revised for some technical snag....

so you have no problem in buying...go ahead and buy one:)

regarding your question, Intel recalled only motherboard to fix issue with the Chipsets. Sandy bridge processors do not have any issues. While getting a motherboard now, just check for revision B3. it will be in all the motherboard boxes which contains chipset with the issue fixed.

If you are not going to overclock, you do not need a 'k' processor. The only difference between i72600 and i72600k is the ability to overclock in the k version with added cost. If you are not going to overclock, you can also save on the motherboard cost by getting a H67 version and use the saved amount to buy a basic Solid state hard drive to speed up your system.

For mother board you can check on MSI/Gigabyte/Asus boards

Unless you are planning to use the Intel HD 3000 IGP, no point in going for the 2600K as you do not plan to overclock. Also the normal 2600 SKU variant has more support for virtualisation.

^^ If you re not going to over-clock your RIG, then a better option is going for the Core i7 2600 [non k version], it'll save some cash and you can redeploy this into other components, so following will be recommended RIG from me --

Intel Core i7 2600 ~ 13500/- + Cooler Master Hyper 212+ ~ 1800/- [third party cooler for more efficient heat dissipation]

ASUS P8Z68-V ~ 12000/-

Corsair XMS 3 2 x 4GB 1600 MHz module(s) ~ 3000/-

MSi GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II ~ 13500/- OR HIS HD 6950 1GB IceQ edition ~ 14500/-

NZXT Tempest EVO ~ 6200/-

Dell Ultrasharp U2311H ~ 13500/-

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 2 x 1TB ~ 5500/-

Corsair TX V2 650 ~ 5400/- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional [ORIGINAL] ~ 10500/-

APC 1.1 KVA ~ 4600/-

Hope this helps.
