WTB SATA expansion card - from M.2 or PCI-e

Ran out of SATA ports on my DIY nas machine.

Amazon listings either seem like cheap/unreliable knock-offs or pricey for what they offer.

If anyone has a reliable expansion card or a link to a good source, please msg me. Budget around 1k.

Not possible unless extremely lucky. Do not buy those pcie sata port cards as there are reports of data corruption/drive failure in intensive usage scenario on such cards. Your best bet is HBA card as mentioned in above post or m.2 sata ports adapter card both of which won't be cheap unless you manage to get m.2 sata ports adapter at original price abroad & even then its original price is around $20 so around 1600. HBA card original price abroad is even higher that too for used hba card.

I have a B450m mobo in this machine which has 4 Sata ports. It is giving me problems now as only one RAM socket is working. So instead of spending 2.5K or thereabouts on a SATA expansion card, I think it would be better to just upgrade the mobo to a new one with 6 SATA ports. Would have a considered an HBA card if I needed 4 extra ports.

If budget is there then buy this asap from below else once it goes out of stock then may have to wait for weeks/months to get at this price or it might not even come back in stock at all.
